My husband and I visited this hotel & stopped for 2 nights in a Junior Suite. The room was spotlessly clean, spacious, had a complimentary minibar stocked with soft drinks, water and snacks. There was also a coffee making machine in the room too. The bathroom was spacious and clean with plenty of towels and a dressing gown and slippers...

We spent two nights here on 9/10 December. We had a lovely room just like on the website. The reception staff were all lovely. We were on the third floor, there was a bit of noise in the morning but nothing to worry about. Breakfast was tasty but order everything, I ordered egg, bacon and tomato thinking I would get...

Loved the small but well equipped rooms. Shower very good . I like the mini fridge with snacks and nice to get a decent coffee. Evening meal was good but breakfast was really good. Great local produce . Try the haggis and black pudding Central for Edinburgh and close to all amenities

I have stayed at this hotel before using my loyalty points and found the experience to, be very good. this time around I was paying my own way and you know how you feel that " this time it better be good" feeling was in play straight away. Firstly I cannot fault the hotel: they even gave me a courtesy...

Stayed for two nights with my girlfriend and was extremely disappointed from arrival. Arrived at 3.30pm the room wasn't ready so was offered an alternative, we paid for a king executive room, the room we were allocated was 102, small room with a window which opened in to an enclosed yard which was bleak, the bed appeared to dip in...

We visited Edinburh for the evening and this hotel was booked by our friends. Really surprised how close it is to everything, I visit Edinburgh a lot and always end up on the Royal mile side. Fantastic for those going to the theatre, or even just an evening away. Staff are friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean,...

The staff are in dire need of training on "International differences". The language barrier even for english speaking countries is difficult. To us the phone you need to press on ~ they don't tell you until you go to reception. The shower. Needs explanation! It is not straight forward ~ & I have visited several foreign countries & lived in...

Can't fault the location but no use if you had a car. Tram stop right outside which is ideal. The beds are advertised as king size but they are a bit smaller. Our shower in 204 was fine. Rooms are spacious.

Hotel location is perfect if you're heading for a show at the Playhouse. Our room was very nice - large and airy, comfy bed, complimentary mini-bar with soft drinks and Tunnocks Teacakes!, rainfall shower, lovely decor etc. Would stay here again, the only thing really that marked our score down a little was (as noticed in a previous review), there...

Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighbourhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighbourhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicentre Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
