Stayed here for an overnight stay. All staff were welcoming and efficient. So convenient for shopping and the Edinburgh Playhouse. Rooms beautiful, so bright whilst quiet. Breakfast excellent. Would definitely recommend. Next time we will eat at their Turquoise Restaurant as looked lovely.

I stayed in this hotel for one night with my friend for a girls night. As an IHG employee, I had an expectation of the standard of service in these hotels. I was not disappointed! The reception staff are lovely and very friendly, kept our bags for us as we arrived quite early, our room wasn't ready but we didn't...

Becoming the hotel chain of choice. Excellent rooms and facilities. The little things impress, like free drinks and snacks in the room. We arrived early - no problem and checked us in. Stayed in a number of their hotels now and each time very impressed. Don't tell them but they could get away with putting their prices up

The hotel is perfectly located at the end of the tram line, which is about 30-35 minutes from the airport. The rooms are very modern and the bathrooms even more so! We had very high ceilings which I loved. The room appeared way bigger, though it was a very large room as it was. The black out curtains are the...

Room was fantastic! Beautifully decorated, all mod...

During my stay the power went out and there was no water. The next morning power was back on and the water was yellow. There was no warning or information. When I mentioned this at reception they just said that it was nothing to do with them and did not even feel that they needed to apologise or take any...

The room was excellent and very clean. The complimentary mini bar is superb (jelly tots!). I would highly recommend the full Scottish breakfast and the hotel bar does excellent drinks. Straight across from Waverley makes it excellent for both en route travel and shopping/sight seeing! The room service is very good and the staff always very friendly!

Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighbourhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighbourhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicentre Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
