But that's about as good as it gets with this place. Receptionist very polite in arrival. She told us that because they were so full and busy we had the smallest double available. She said she would give us a complimentary continental breakfast to make up for the lack of space. We never went for breakfast and would have been...

Not sure what to say about this place. It's a beautiful looking building from the outside, private off road parking, which is at a premium in the area and the staff were cheerful and accommodating. The buildings themselves are huge inside with a lot of original features including staircases, fireplaces and wall coverings. However the building needs a serious hug!...

When booking online, the rooms looked great, but on arrival most of the premesies turned out to be worn down and a little shabby. The bed was hard and the towels not clean. On the upside, the personel was polite and helpful and the area had lots of good restaurants

Late review but better then never! Basic but good enough to get your head down too. Decent distance from the centre but we did walk it a few times. Takes about 25 minutes. There are buses passing all the time too which is used. New year experience was excellent and highly recommend Edinburgh for new year. If your wanting more...

Room was clean and spacious but the decor was drab and unimaginative. The curtains were hanging off the rails so we dare not try to close them - fortunately we were not overlooked. Staff on the whole were helpful and friendly. We were surprised to be charged for using a Debit Card and the breakfasts were poor - no bacon!

The thrums hotel is a very comfortable and central hotel when visiting Edinburgh. the hotel is on a frequent bus route into princess street and all the attractions. The hotel has a good secure car park which is very handy in the city. No bar facilities are provided at the thrums but some good bars are nearby We will visit...

My in-laws stayed in this place when visiting us, this review reflects their experience: The staff was generally friendly and helpful, but the room was cramped, there was dirt under the beds and breakfast was not included (which was not apparent when booking), they should have booked that for another £5 pp.

On arrival the staff were veryfriendly and polite. They showed us to our room which was full of period features. How ever the decoration had no attention to detail, the place was clean but not spotless. Our bed was made and the bins emptied daily but cups not cleaned, no extra loo rolls provided and the no bin bag provided...

I recently visited Scotland for a short period, and stayed at The Thrums. Very friendly staff, cosy, homely room. Look forward to staying there again. Was only a 15 minute walk away from Princes street, an local attractions, which meant no hustle an bustle of the city centre, but well with in walking distance. When I travel back next year,...

“Our rooms overlooked back garden so we're quiet. Not sure if front rooms suffered from traffic noise or not. It is on a busy main road.”
