From the warm welcome to the hearty farewell this hotel has been a pleasure. If you want fast food, corporate decor and impersonal smile and wave service then you will be disappointed. However if you want quirky, friendly, homely rooms with excellent fresh breakfast and staff with excellent knowledge, personality and a passion for their hotel then come here. Brilliant... More

I stayed here for one night with my mum as we treated ourselves to an overnight stay when visiting the Edinburgh Tattoo earlier this year (2016). Mr Kay was very welcoming and helpful when we arrived (we were given a front door key so we could come and go as we pleased). The free parking within the walled grounds is... More

Stayed here for one night and chose this hotel because we were attending the area for a specific reason. Its a good location for Newhaven and Leith, can walk to both in 20 minutes and it's on bus routes in to the city. Not much in the immediate area pub and restaurant wise. The hotel is ok but its more... More

whenever we visit Edinburgh we always stay here. it is in a quiet area, and only 20-30 mins walk to town, or there is a bus route right outside. The food is always excellent and the accommodation so comfortable. The owners are extremely helpful and welcoming, The room rates are more than great value. It is always a privilege to... More

The friendly nature of the owners make this hotel a joy to stay in, always happy to help and provide assistance with any enquiry. Rooms are adequate, small bathroom with hot water but could do with a little more pressure. The house is very old and gives off a lot of charm. Breakfast was excellent / it is true the... More

Though, as people have mentioned, this place is not right in the center, there are many benefits to staying here. First and foremost, the owner David is a gem. The place has an old world feel and David, besides running a clean place with a fantastic breakfast (loved that smoked haddock!), contributes much of his time to volunteer and charitable... More

We stayed a few nights at this B&B as we wanted to visit Edinburgh. It's not central but has a very good bus link to and from the centre. On arrival we were greeted by a gentleman who explained everything we need to know including general information about the area - very helpful. Everyone was quite accommodating. The hotel itself... Hello and thank you for your nice review. The large super kingsize beds are given 2 duvets so that couples can have optional togetherness. It really allows for people to have a bit more space in bed and perhaps distance themselves a little from perhaps a snoring partner :) We will never rush the cooking of breakfast at A-Haven. We... Wonderful welcome to Scotland. Superb advice on where to go, which buses to catch (super-important), helpful friendly staff who made my early arrival and late departure smooth and easy. The breakfast was very good and I wish I could have stayed longer. Kia ora (thank you) David and your team for the hospitality.

We booked our stay on line without really knowing much about Edinburgh but we couldn't have chosen a better place to stay as it turned out. We were welcomed on our arrival by David, the proprietor, who was invaluable helping us to find our way around the local bus service and giving advise on local facilities. Our room was very... More
