We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment at The Rutland Hotel for 5 nights. The rooms were very spacious and the beds were comfortable. The living and kitchen area were great place for us to gather at the end of the day as we were a group of three couples. Two of the couples stayed in the ground floor apartment....

We stayed at the Rutland while touring Edinburg and attending The Open. It is a fantastic location, the staff is wonderful and we enjoyed both restaurants. We stayed in the apartments and enjoyed the ability to have a glass of while in the apartment and just wind down after busy days! Can't say enough good things about the Rutland!!

My fiancée and I had the most wonderful stay I this hotel to celebrate our recent engagement. The staff were brilliant very helpful and Jamie on reception was superb to the extent of finding us an iron in the pooring down rain. The junior suite we stayed in was amazing very spacious and the bed was very big and very...

A great boutique hotel, right in the heart of Edinburgh. Lots of lovely little touches. Fabulous breakfast, and excellent free cocktails as we booked through Mr and Mrs smith. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Highly recommended

We stayed with our one year old and took the juniour suite. The room was really spacious for a city centre hotel. There was some nice extras included such as the Nespresso machine and GHD's, the homebakes shortbread was also a welcome treat. The room was clean and well stocked with towels etc. The bathroom products were of a high...

We stayed here as we were attending a wedding nearby. I'll be honest, I would have been quite happy with the Premier Inn on Princes Street (reviewed previously) but it was booked out. I'm actually rather glad it was. The Rutland is brilliantly located below the castle just off Princes Street. We arrived at 12.30 and parked in the Castle...

Everything was awesome... Lovely bed, great view, best hotel breakfast ever, size of the room was big enough for luggages. Actually I can't blame anything... ...exept the shower. Hot water issues all the time. Old pipe systems doesn't give enough water pressures to whole building or something like that. Dunno the reason why.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
