My husband had booked a last minute overnight stay on the 3rd of December, this would be our chance to celebrate Christmas as my mum starts 5 weeks intense cancer treatment on the 5th, tomorrow. We arrived at the hotel to a wonderful warm welcome and although we where almost 2 hours early for check in our room was ready,...

Stayed here for a Saturday night, whilst spending the weekend in central Edinburgh. The suite apartment was well presented, clean, tidy, comfortable and well designed; and overlooked the bustling street below, perfect for people watching.  Ideal location if you're basing yourself around the Royal Mile. Parking was easy enough and check in and out was no problem at all. Good...

Stayed there for a whole week. Nice staff, fast check-in. Ideal for a couple, good location and kitchen well equipped. Supermarkets near by. It was a pleasant acommodation but sound travels easily through the walls.

Stayed here on 17th September 2016 for 1 night with 6 other friends. Room was lovely and clean. Very spacious. Really quiet. Not far from city centre attractions. Breakfast a bit pricey but nice. Would definitely come back again and would definitely recommend to others.

First time at the fringe and didn't want to rush. So decided to book accommodation. Everything was getting more expensive so decided that this was worth the cost. Boy this place is nice. Got a room with no view but that's a good point very little noise. It's clean tidy and when I opened the door and saw it I...

The location is very good, within walking distance from many city attractions and the university. Rooms are spacious, but be aware that some appartments have internal stairs. Since it is mainly populated by students, if you are there when new students arrive, it can be very crowded and you may need to wait for the elevator.

We stayed here for just one night during the Fringe festival. The apartments were the best value accommodation around at that time. The apartment itself was compact but fantastic with a well thought out layout. With some cooking facilities/small kitchen you could be self sufficient if you wanted to be. We didn't want to cook as there was so much...

Stayed here to attend a party in Edinburgh. Was say it's pretty basic and small.not the cleanest rooms either. the rooms they offer on the website ain't the rooms you get. If if I spread my arms out I could touch both walls. I guess you get what you pay for. Wouldn't return

This is part of the university residence; so it feels a bit like a dorm. It has laundry facility. Location is convenient. We stayed in a suite with a hallway, a separate bedroom, and a living room with a sofa bed, so it is good for family. Overall a good experience.

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
