Stayed at this hotel 18 months ago (when all was "normal") surprised by this visit as the hotel has had a huge refurbishment and looks great! The team was friendly but maintained all Covid controls. The hotel is a great location, I enjoy a run and the network of footpaths outside the hotel away from the roads make this a great choice for me.
A positive visit/stay during pandemic restrictions. Stayed with work, made welcome rather than a nuisance as in some places. Staff were very friendly throughout, breakfast delivered timely, room clean, comfortable bed, fast WiFi. Only negative was the TV didn't have full Freeview service, but not there to watch Tele.
The best thing about this modern hotel is the location. It is situated close to everything especially including the excellent Edinburgh Tram service to the Airport. We were allocated a room in the new wing of the hotel. The room was clean and functional, small with a lack of comfort space, clothing and luggage space and even decent shelving to put everyday travelling items. On the other hand the en-suite was really good with a roomy shower booth - a big plus. The room also had plenty of power outlets and convenient USB points essential to today’s travelers. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast is served in a canteen type area and is serve yourself buffet style. It’s a bit of a rabble if busy but the cooked food is very good and refreshed regularly. The machine coffee is quite okay. Thankfully this area is well supervised by the few staff with tables cleared and cleaned quickly. For a 1,2 or a 3 day stay this hotel is fine. Any longer - you’d want a bigger room. The winning feature is the location. …
We booked on a very busy rugby weekend for a family theatre trip to see Everyone's Talking About Jamie. We wanted a room which could accommodate two adults and two children aged 11 and 14. When we arrived, the room was nice and big and had private space for all of us. The hotel itself was not noisy and all of us slept well for both nights. Breakfast on day one could be ordered if you wanted something hot and on day two it was a complete buffet. The staff here are really polite and attentive and we were made to feel very welcome. Some may find this hotel too far from the centre. But for us, this was perfect and we did a great deal of walking in Edinburgh and it was no time before we ended up at sights such as the castle on foot. The hotel would welcome a refurbishment, particularly the bathroom and this is happening in the Summer. I would gladly return here as you get a very warm welcome and a great night's sleep. The breakfast is hot and if you ask for items such as fried eggs, the great staff bring them to the table. We all had a great two night stay. Thanks to all of the staff we encountered as they are a credit to you. …
The hotel is a bit out of the action of the city centre but is reasonably priced as well. The accommodation isn’t bad but there are a few niggles that spoilt it a bit. The bathrooms are REALLY small, it’s hardly possible to shut the door to get to the shower, which incidentally is on a very short hose and not good water pressure. The carpet coming out of the bathroom is worn and stained, there were three of us in the room but housekeeping only left two towels on our second night. Apart from that that the rooms were decent and clean. The staff were welcoming and efficient but I don’t think I would stop here again
