We stayed in a de-lux four poster room (The Pink Room) it is very romantic, without being too over feminine. Subtle colours and lovely quality furnishings. We've stayed before and the staff are professional and friendly. I'd been quite specific in our requirements on arrival and every thing was perfect and exactly as I'd asked for making our short break...

Staid 2 nights in May during a business trip. Very helpful personnell and absolutely lovely breakfast with all one could wish for (except maybe some dark bread and perhaps an espresso or two). Nice room though mine was a bit small, but comfortable bed. Not as central as I thought but frequent bus connections to the city and to the...

Hi there kolux Thank you very much for taking the time to leave your review of your stay with us. Next time please just ask for brown bread and espresso we of course have both! It is no problem at all, I am sorry you missed out. If you require more space next time please be aware we have larger...

Our great experience started from the time of booking itself. After we'd made the reservation (which was non-refundable & non-changeable), we'd to move our trip by five months as our visas didn't go through the first time. The hotel folks were incredibly understanding about this & made an exception to move our reservation to the alternate dates we requested. We...

Good afternoon Thank you so much for your review, that is such lovely feedback and such a lovely end to the day. I am so pleased we were able to accommodate your change of plans - it is not always possible (just so other guests do not come to expect it!) but we do try. I do always encourage guests...

Really liked this hotel small and Independent with a very personal touch. Good location for getting around we walked everywhere. Great room, a Nespresso coffee machine which is always a bonus for me . Used the bar the first evening , it had a very good selection of drinks which we reasonably priced for a hotel . Good freshly cooked...

Stayed for 2 nights in April. A lovely hotel in a good location, short walk from town. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We paid extra to have a larger room which was worth the money. The only slightly negative point I would make is that we were surprised that the shower wasn't separate.

Hi there Thank you very much for leaving your comments with us about your stay last month. I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay. We do have some rooms that have separate bath and shower - we are just limited by space in some of the bathrooms. If this is something that is particularly important to you please let...

Stayed here only one night unfortunately, this was a really nice hotel. You almost wanted to stay in the hotel instead of touring Edinburgh. Take a cup of tea in the conservatory or in the community living room.

Hello Erik T Little bit confused by your title! Do you mean a little bit away from the City centre? I think that is what you mean as you seemed to love your stay with us. I am so pleased! Sometimes it pays to be a little walk away as you get all the peace and quiet then! I hope...

We went to Scotland for a three day short city break of Edinburgh and stayed a wonderful two nights at the Dunstane Hotel. This is a lovely hotel in a lovely old decor building. Inside the hotel is decorated nicely and has its own charm about it. The location of the hotel is also perfect as there is a bus...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
