It has taken me over a week to come back to earth after a superb weekend based at The Dunstane. Thank you to all the wonderful staff for making our stay so special. Nothing was too much trouble. We took over the hotel, as a base for guests from all over the world, who had travelled to Edinburgh for our...

Very clean and comfortable rooms with separate areas to relax. The staff were very friendly and helpful towards we Aussie tourists. The breakfast was a high standard and the hotel close to bus, train and taxi transport. I'd go back if I return to Edinburgh!

The Dunstane is a small hotel, with very friendly and helpful staff, small but comfortable rooms and a decent restaurant and bar. The bed and linen were excellent, shower, furniture and fittings all of good quality and well maintained. The hotel is on the airport express shuttle bus route and the stop is right outside the front door, about 30...

This hotel consists of three separate buildings which is a little confusing at first. Our room in the "city" building was lovely, with wonderful amenities in the room and a large, shared lounge on the first floor. Staff was exceptional. We had breakfast and dinner in their restaurant and the food was very good. It is a little removed from...

My wife and I travelled down to the Dunstane for a nights stay prior to flying off on honeymoon. Our overnight stay with dinner was excellent, staff were very helpful and arranged a few additions to our room for arrival, drinks and out meal in the Skerries restaurant were first class.

The Dunstane Hotel is a very quaint hotel not far from Haymarket station. We stayed there for about 4 days. Hotel is split across at least two buildings. We booked a Deluxe Room for the stay. While the room was beuatifully furnished, it was really small. I mean, so small, that we had to literally put away our suitcases below...

Everything about this hotel was amazing. We stayed across the street. The back atrium was so nice. The outdoor seating area was perfect for morning visits. The lounge on this building was very nice and stocked with self service honor system beverages. The staff was the best in all my travels to Europe. Highly recommend!

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
