Great location right in Haymarket with views of the castle. Room clean and once again great castle view. Loved the restaurant at the top, kids loved swimming in the pool after long days of site seeing.

We stayed here with friends for a night at Edinburgh Festival - rooms were clean, not huge but sufficient, good location - all good. We gave ourselves an hour and a half for a leisurely breakfast before getting train home but after waiting for over a hour to get our food had to leave to get train - very disappointed...

Nice comfortable hotel with a good sized, modern room. The staff also worked hard to get me a double room when i had booked a twin which was appreciated. I also checked in gone midnight which wasn't a problem at all. Breakfast was pretty good too. The only comment that i'd make is that the bathroom could have done with...

I've stayed at the Apex hotel on the bank holiday weekend during the Fringe festival. We had a great stay, the receptionists were lovely and very helpful. The room was nice, bathroom cleaned and bed comfortable. I really like the duck to take back, it's a nice touch which makes you remember the Apex hotels. The hotel is located 15...

What a beautiful and comfortable hotel in a great Central location. We had a wonderful family room which looked onto theCastle. We didn't want to close our curtains at night. The breakfast was delicious with a great choice... Again we had it as we looked at the castle in the morning sunshine. We will definitely visit this hotel again!

Booked three nights whilst visiting The Fringe. Hotel is very handy for the Haymarket area, just a three minute walk from the railway station. It's about a 10 minute walk to Princess Street and about 20 minutes to the castle. There is a tram stop and taxis very close to the hotel. Hotel was very comfortable, exceptionally clean and good...

Clean room, modern. Good price. Near to the Haymarket train station. Many good restaurants in the area. I would recommend staying here. Ate at the restaurant for breakfast. It was a typical continental breakfast, not really worth the high price.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
