Hotel overall very old and tired. Rooms very basic and in need of an update. Had problems with shower temperature, in room phone not working meant we had to contact reception via mobile and room temperature overall way too stuffy even with air con on highest setting. Location main attribute. Had an awful experience in the spa which seemed to...

Room well appointed and breakfast good although I think a hot buffet bar might solve the breakfast queues. What really impressed was the friendliness of the staff: every single one I encountered went out of their way to help. A credit to your customer service training. would definitely stay there again.

A lovely hotel in a quiet area but close to bars and restaurants. The staff were very polite and helpful. The room we had was excellent with a couple of chairs and the bed was very comfortable and big also a super bathroom with a great shower.

The room was large comfy and well equipped. The bed was superb. Breakfasts are to die for. The swimming pool and spa area is great after a day of exploring. Reasonably well situated near the Parliament building.. so up hill to the Royal Mile.. but down hill after a long day. Good evening food at reasonable prices too.

We spent two nights at this hotel and found it to be a really relaxing place to stay. Staff were attentive and menu simple but quality. Parking is sometimes available but in our case was not as there was a wedding reception taking place. We were however able to park in parking station about 100m away for equivalent of $30...

The room was well maintained, large bed and very quiet, i was however disappointed I did not get a robe and slippers like my work colleagues!!...

Good sized room, perfect location, clean and comfortable. Friendly and helpful staff. Quick WiFi. Would stay here again. If I was being picky the cooked breakfast menu could have a little more variety.

The hotel has a great localization, within walking distance of the Rolyrood Palace and the Royal Mile! Rooms are wide and clean and the staff is very kind! There is valet parking also, which helps a lot! Great experience for an unforgettable weekend in Edimburg!

Found this hotel very friendly, clean and very convenient for all places to cost, it was also very easy to get to by car coming from the south on the A1, hot breakfast was excellent but the buffet part, is croissants could have been better.

Following a disastrous stay at Christmas we given a complimentary stay in recompense. This time everything went superbly and certainly there was nothing at all to complain about! Both Jakob and Frank, restaurant and front of house staff were very welcoming and attentive. I also tried out the spa on this occasion and had a fabulous massage and facial. Our...

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
