A return visit after several years - staff at reception and breakfast most welcoming and efficient, wonderful large room with modern bathroom and capsule coffee machine. And bathrobes. Good location in the New Town but only on street pay parking, time limited. As we were there by train thus was fine for us and we walked everywhere.

The location and ambiance are perfect for exploring the City. On a quiet street, enjoy cozy rooms with robes, wonderful bathroom supplies, and quality bedding. You are a short stroll away from all the Edinburgh has to offer. Room 23 was a terrific value. Breakfast has something for all tastes and my vegan needs were accommodated nicely. We will be...

This was our second and hopefully not last stay. As it was a birthday treat, we took the Four Poster Room - probably the best hotel bedroom we have had. Generous size, comfy bed and SO quiet. Breakfast was very generous and perfectly cooked.

We stayed here for 3 nights as it was the 50th birthday gift I gave to my husband. We were blown away by the elegance of our room (number 3),newly refurbished with a stunning level of detail in the decor and soft furnishings with a huge four poster bed, which was a feast for the eyes and a newly fitted bathroom....

Great location, high standards, strong WIFI, great breakfast, steeped in military history - I've stay here a few times and its always good quality. Quite central to the main shopping areas and parks - 15 mins walk approx. Feels like a military club. Five mins walk from St Andrew's Square tram stop - so handy for Ed airport @ £8.50...

Lovely hotel, clean and tidy with a feeling of exclusiveness. The decor inside was impressive, and the staff very helpful and friendly. The food in the restaurant was beautiful, the staff helped us get a meal at short notice. Overall a very smart hotel to stay in.

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
