I was at the club last week for one night, previously having stayed there perhaps five years ago. Staff are very pleasant and helpful and the public rooms are interesting. The bedrooms are average for clubs; mine was a bit of a trek into a rabbit warren at the lower level of the back of the club, but did have...

Central and Quiet location. Perfect Stay. Small but comfortable room. Would have loved to stay more time. Staff was friendly, very nice and helpful. We will get back and we'll recommend it to friends and acquaintances.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel--spacious room and bath, excellent dining, great location in town but on a quiet street. I felt very welcome here, though it is a club. I liked the historical aspect ( a club for WWI veterans) with its photographs and memorials. It is unique, and I hope to return.

We have been members of this Club for many years and over this time it has striven hard to keep the warmth and friendliness of a Members Club while maintaining the standards of a first class hotel. It's location in the heart of the City within walking distance of everything is a huge additional plus. We always look forward to...

Ideal for us. We had three days in Edinbugh - the hotel was ideally placed. Easy access to the shops, the Tattoo, the attractions and plenty of good, varied food establishments within an easy walk. You won't be disappointed.

Full of character, the Royal Scots Club is a great location for a stay in Edinburgh. Friendly and welcoming (not at all stuffy, as you may think, for a private members' club), we will definitely return!

Great location with easy walking into city centre. When we booked we knew that this would be very traditional and certainly the room we had was large, had lots of very big and dark furniture and bedding/curtains. The bottom of the wardrobe in our room needed dusting. It was relatively quiet in the hotel and the location is certainly very...

We have always wanted to stay at this club and were extremely delighted to obtain the rooms during the fringe. Nowhere else in Edinburgh can you find such quality, professional staff and fabulous dining (a three course dinner for £20.00). Fabulous and highly recommended.

My trip was a combination of business and pleasure. The club is very centrally located and most things were within walking distance which made a pleasant change. The service was good and the staff helpful. When I next need to come to Edinburgh I will definately think about staying here again.

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
