Stayed here for one night to visit the theatre. There were no complaints at all. The place is well decorated, has very interesting common areas and clean and comfortable bedrooms. The staff were helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was served in a beautiful dining room and cooked to order which made it very fresh and tasty. Well located in a quiet...

Very good value for money and great location . I like the building and atmosphere. Wearing a jacket aand tie in the bar and restaurant is a bit inconvenient for non business visitors . I have stayed here many times .

This proved to be an excellent choice for an overnight stay at short notice in Edinburgh. The room was very well equipped, with hairdryer, iron & ironing board in addition to all the expected facilities. A lift from the ground floor provided easy access to bedrooms for those with bags to carry. Breakfast choices were good, as was table service.

As a group of friends we stayed for only one night and were very satisfied indeed. The property is lovely - public areas all comfortable, tasteful and steeped in WW1 memorabilia (fascinating for any historian). The bedrooms were extremely comfortable and with Molton Brown toiletries a lovely touch. Breakfast was excellent and served in a bright and beautiful dining room...

Super food and service for a party of 26. Everybody expressed their delight. I am sure many of us will return in the future. If you are in Edinburgh I can highly recommend this Club. Go on lines and look at the menu options.

Friendly styleish different special and super breakfasts - a home from home in Edinburgh. Lots of history from the Regiment. room 11 has a huge double bed overlooking the gardens. Very central in New Town.

My wife selected the Royal Scots Club based on price & location -- both were very good. We were very impressed with the staff. The rooms, bar, common areas, and regimental history on display made this a very enjoyable stop in Edinburgh. We will definitely stay here again and recommend it highly.

Website shows very nicely decorated rooms. Our room was in the basement down a dark corridor past a large conference room. It had no ambience or any decor at all. It felt and looked like a basement accommodation. Would definitely inquire about exactly what the room looked like before I would book at this hotel. Lobby was also being renovated...

First class experience of a manner of living not found in many establishments. Excellent staff and facilities all of the highest standards. A most enjoyable stay in a highly civilised establishment with all the grace and elegance that one would expect in the New Town.

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
