My hubby and I have been visiting this hotel for years. We like it so much as the staff are always courteous and we even chose it to stay when we got married at Edinburgh Chambers three years ago. We were visiting this time to celebrate our three year Anniversary. We got a great deal and the hotel brought us...

Enjoyable stay for two nights in March. Room was comfortable, bathroom clean and well appointed. Decent shower, comfortable bed. All usual room features. Swimming pool is small and was closed when we tried to use it but the sauna and steam room were good. The restaurant next to the bar is a bit small and it feels more like a...

No excuses for this one - one of our favorite hotels, recently refurbished. Near to the station, near to Princess St. and right smack bang on the Royal Mile! Whilst the Hotel looks ancient it is quite a recent build in contrast with all the historic buildings adjacent and throughout the City! Staff are really helpful and pleasant, from housekeeping...

We stayed for 2 nights at the end of January on a short break. The hotel was perfect for our needs, great location, clean modern room and lovely pool. We didn't eat at the hotel so cannot comment on the food. We would not heistate to stay here again when we return (which we will as we loved Edinburgh!)

We stayed in a turret suite. The room lounge area was huge and very nicely decorated. Bedroom was nice and quiet even tho in a busy area of the city. There is a guest bathroom if having visitors. We availed ourselves of breakfast and we're not disappointed - excellent food. Customer service was excellent from the moment we arrived to...

Hotel is in a great location on the Royal Mile and very handy for the station. Rooms were very nice, all the staff encountered were friendly and professional and breakfast offered an excellent selection with a buffet plus a selection of items to order.

Visited for a long weekend. Hotel is perfectly situated on the Royal Mile with lots of shops, sights, and restaurants around. However no noise inside the hotel. Reception staff are efficient and helpful. Room was modern and beds were very comfortable. I'm allergic to feathers but after a quick call to the front desk, all bedding was changed at midnight...

Perfect location for our 2 night stay in Edinburgh. Breakfast was lovely, staff friendly, room fairly big, nice clean bathroom, good swimming pool, sauna & steam room, our only disappointment was the swimming pool area was closed on our second evening, if we were pre informed could have arranged our day differently. Very easy to get to from the airport,...

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
