Right in the centre of Edinburgh, with very easy access of the Royal Mile. Friendly staff. Rooms look tired, and carpet needs changing. Bathroom looks old, and could do with a better cleaner system than shower curtains.

Good weekend at this well located hotel. Overall a reasonable hotel for the money, some noise from Waverley Station but ok. Good choice at breakfast. Bathroom could probably do with a bit of maintenance.

Great hotel at perfect location in Old Town!! Walk distance from most of city attractions. Many good restaurants and pubs around!!! Worth every penny. Many closes to explore the city and find wonderful little corners. Definitely recommend Whiski Bar and Restaurant on Royal Mile

Room was ok but the hotel needs a few quid spent on it. Doors to reception a re a bit dirty and dated and not clean.....it's not a great welcome. Our room was 'ok', but the bathroom was in dire need of a re-furb. Tiling, old and tatty and the grout was dirty, chipped or missing. There was a shower...

We stayed here for 3 nights last week and had a fab time. The hotel is easy to get to and from, only 5 minute walk from railway station, and therefore central for the city.Check in was very quick and easy with really nice staff-no fuss. The barman was most pleasant and friendly and gave us information .We especially enjoy our reward coffees.

Location was ideal, near to everything in the Old Town! Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very basic. Clean and tidy but you got what you paid for. I went with my two friends and we are college students and it was ideal!

Excellent customer service and professionalism. Lovely hotel, very clean and well situated to get to both Royal Mile and Princes Street. Would recommend to anyone. We didnt eat at the hotel however the choice of room service and restaurant menu was varied.

For a basic hotel in the middle of Edinburgh it is good value for money, however this is a hotel only really used by business men/women on a business trip to Edinburgh. Not the sort of hotel you would use for a family holiday.

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
