A really lovely boutique hotel just of the main road in edinburgh. A short walk from all the main areas, but tucked away in a quiet Georgian terrace - the location was fantastic. We were kindly upgraded for our special trip. The hotel was well decorated and our room was large and of good quality. As others have mentioned, the...

The Bonham is a quality character hotel in Edinburgh's New Town (which is actually quite an old bit of the town). It's so well positioned. It's a short stroll to the centre of town at the West End of Princes Street. And if you take a short stroll south you'll find your way to the Water of Leith. Go for...

When we first arrived at the hotel, we registered and asked that our room be added to the breakfast buffet in the morning. I think it's worth it when you can leave your hotel in the morning with a full belly so you don't have to spend the morning looking for food. Our hotel room was nice. we were facing...

Stayed here for our 10 year wedding anniversary. Nice hotel, would give it a 4* but the room a 3*. Room was very small and the bathroom too small. The shower was in an extra small bath. On the plus side the breakfast was very good, evening meal wasn't bad. Would consider returning if room was bigger.

No internet signal in the room I was initially given. I persisted there was none even after being told by the man on the front desk "I've just checked outside your door and had connection" and eventually got a room change where there was very good internet signal. Whatever he was implying, it did not reflect well on me. He...

My wife and I stayed at The Bonham for a 2 night weekend break in Edinburgh. We were allocated room No.202 on the 2nd floor fronting the hotel. Fortunately, the road outside had very little traffic and therefore, it was surprisingly quiet. The room was VERY clean and had a large 'queen sized' bed which was extremely comfortable and with...

We spent three nights here at the beginning of our tour and one night at the end. Both rooms we had were very nicely done with plenty of room. There is a kettle in each room with instant coffee available and tea bags and biscuits. Nice cups and saucers with this service. Ice can be gotten in the bar for...

Used the hotel for 121 business meeting several times this year. Excellent small room provided with good coffee device on request. Bar food at lunchtime limited but good quality. Client used hotel on his wedding night earlier this year and liked it so much that we meet here for business! Worth checking out for a short luxury stay in Edinburgh

Had a lovely afternoon tea at the Bonham last Thursday. We had a couple of vouchers for 4 teas but as there were only 3 of us, Douglas kindly gave us a glass of Prosecco to go with our Gin fizz. Lovely afternoon tea would highly recommend.

A totally positive experience: comfortable beds, nice cotton sheets, feather pillows, solicitous and helpful staff, good breakfast. The location is perfect: a quiet street away from the hubbub of "downtown," but close enough to walk there and almost everywhere.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
