Stayed at The Bonham for 3 nights recently and would definitely recommend. We arrived early and were able to leave our bags at the hotel until our room was ready. Room was really nice - spacious and clean with fabulous high ceilings. The hotel is situated in a really quiet part of the town, but within easy walking distance of...

We enjoyed our stay at the Bonham very much. Rooms were clean, comfortable and inviting. Staff were friendly and kind (even when I blew the breaker 2 days in a row!). Food was fabulous. We stayed here as part of a tour group but I would love to come back and stay again with them. Thank you for making our...

Quiet street, ticketed parking only, hotel charged £15 per day. Hotel is well kept and the staff were really friendly. Room wasn't ready, around 130pm, once we returned bags were in the room. Room, no 2, was lovely. Comfy bed, nice bathroom. Pillows were rubbish!!! Only 1 each and were very thin. Breakfast the next morning was of a high...

Stayed for just one night but was very impressed. Receptionist Anna was delightful. Parking a bonus and £15 charge not excessive. The junior suite was lovely and very spacious. The bathroom needed some attention as the shower had no thermostatic control and temperature changed at the slightest touch so was quite dangerous. The curtain was not very effective around the...

Not far from the city centre (shopping and old town) the hotel is in a rather quiet area and has privat parking (extra charge). Large nice room, friendly and helpful staff. It includes a very nice restaurant where you can also enjoy breakfast (we booked excl. breakfast)

We stayed for three nights. We booked 3 nights at the Bonham Hotel for our first wedding anniversary after spending our honeymoon in Edinburgh. We travelled up by train to Wavely station and found the hotel only to be a 10 minute brisk walk. Upon our arrival we were given room 1, which was a nice but small room with the shortest bed I have...

After a not so great experience (mostly fault with the restaurant) first time round I was given the opportunity to experience the hotel again. This time we took the kids. Couldn't fault it we stayed in a superior room huge and plenty of space for 4 of us in one room. We chose not to eat there but instead took...

This was our third stay at The Bonham. It has all one could want in a boutique hotel; convenient West End location easily walkable to New Town, but still tucked away on a residential street safely removed from noise of daytime traffic and (at least for the most part) night time revelry. Quietly elegant decor combines retro atmosphere with largely...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
