I really enjoyed our 2 nights stay at this hotel. Let's begin at the start.... The location was good and even though it was a little further from the train station than we initially thought, we did walk there. I'd suggest a taxi if you are coming from the train station. The staff that greeted us upon check in were...

Dear Guest Thank you for this great review of your recent stay with us which I am delighted that you and your family enjoyed. Thank you also for your very kind words regarding the staff here, I will take great pleasure in sharing these with the teams. We look forward to welcoming you and your family back in the very...

We were upgraded to a suite which was lovely with a small sitting area as well as a spacious bedroom, design was quirky with bathroom away from bedroom. The last day there was a problem with the water on the floor we occupied and we were given a standard room on a lower floor to have a shower before departure....

Despite a very late arrival at half past midnight the level of service offered was unchanged from middle of the day. Excellent standard of accommodation and contemporary lighting and decor make for a very comfortable room. Nice sized bed, comfortable duvet and pillows, separate shower and bath with a separate room for the toilet. My only downside was the breakfast,...

Quite simply, the best hotel I've stayed at, in Scotland. Subtle touches of class in every aspect of the service. Attention to detail is spot on. Excellent food, ambiance and service. I've been to spa breaks in most of Scotland's top City Spa hotels and this is best I've been to thus far. Roof top outdoor jacuzzi pretty much sells...

Stayed here for just one night but the room we had was really nice and couldn't fault it. The view looked right on to the castle and if you are staying in Edinburgh it's really surely the only view you should want. The beds are so comfortable and the bathrooms immaculate. Some people have said the mood lighting (you can...

We chose to stay at The Sheraton Grand Hotel in Edinburgh during a recent short stay in the city and were absolutely delighted. From the moment we arrived the staff were friendly, welcoming and seemed genuinely interested in our satisfaction. Throughout our stay we came into contact with various team members, including receptionists, concierge, bar staff, waiting staff and housekeeping...

In many ways this was the perfect hotel for us, the modern décor we prefer, and in a great location, a five minute walk from Princes Street and ten minutes from the Royal Mile. Also, the breakfast was excellent, with loads of choice and very well cooked hot food, and I would have to say that every member of staff...

Spa trip was a birthday gift - which was good because £75 is a bit steep. The thermal experience was great fun, we enjoyed the different showers, saunas, steam rooms etc but missed the ice cold drenches (too old and too scared!). By far the favourite though was the hydro pools. The inside one was good but the outside one...

Dear Guest Thank you for taking the time to review your recent visit to One Spa. I am delighted to hear that overall you had a great time and enjoyed your spa experience, however I am sorry for the geniune mix up with regards to your lunch, and sorry for the time you had to wait to have this resolved....

The location is wonderful with full views of the castle and quick access to the centre and Princes Street gardens. Staff were attentive and subtle in their approach and the décor is lush without being overdone. The bedroom suite was luxurious and beautifully appointed with mood lighting in the bath / shower area. The air con was quiet and effective...

I used to live in Edinburgh, and am very fond of the city, even if I don't think it's quite as outrageously wonderful as some would have you believe. I decided to go back for a short visit in March 2015, to catch up with some old friends and colleagues. I lived in various areas of the city, in varying...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
