A clean and comfortable B&B close to the centre of Edinburgh, but far enough out to be away from the hustle and bustle. Attentive staff and a wonderful breakfast are on offer. The only downside for us would be that our room could have done with a bit of updating, which we appreciate is tricky in a building of this...

I was here for the 9th time and would stay there always again. Very nice and friendly host, cosy rooms and the best breakfast in Edinburgh! Clive and Myint Su are very helpful and it's always funny to chat with them in the morning. 😊

Many thanks to very friendly owner Mr.Clive and also Mr. Chris, who informed us about everything in Edinburgh. Lovely lady from Thailand, who also works in Mingalar, always warmly welcomed us during breakfast and gave us advises. Spacious and clean room N2 was nicely decorated and equipped. Beds are comfy, freshly made Scottish breakfast is Delicious with authentic Scottish haggis...

It is important to consider Mingalar House in the context of a European bed and breakfast, rather than an American hotel chain. It is in the middle of Edinburgh, with its rabbit-warren cobblestone streets and was built in the 1840's. Therefore, the interior largely reflects the room sizes and arrangements of that time. We stayed in Room 4 which is...

The staff and owner were by far the best feature in this guest house. They gave us a detailed description of the town and places to visit. Each morning, we received additional suggestions based on our "adventure style". This really was a tremendous help. The location was a big score. It was quiet and lovely with a beautiful old building...

This is a real gem of a place to stay in Edinburgh. Walking distance to city centre and on bus route and close to trams. Our hosts were delightful and while there were a few little glitches with out room all was resolved calmly and efficiently and with humour! Highly recommended and will definitely return.

I stayed here for 5 days. The owners are so nice and wonderful. I hope this helps future clients. The beds were very hard. Lots of choices of pillows between hard and soft though. The showers were teeny. The toilet was in a corner and almost impossible to use. I used their bathroom in the foyer. The room was nice...

The Mingalar was a charming old building with some nice features. Our room was the family room at the top of the stairs. My daughters each had their own bed. What I liked: that it had a refrigerator in the room, breakfast was included, and you pretty much could have what you wanted. I liked that it was close to...

The guest house is in a great location, it's within a short walking distance to Edinburgh city centre, has a number of nice restaurants and pubs nearby, and offers parking. My husband and I were impressed with the double superior room, which was both spacious and comfortable. The staff were also very welcoming, helpful and friendly. Overall, a very pleasant...
