Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was our good fortune to book Market Street Hotel for a stopover on our way north to our daughters wedding. From the moment we walked through the door and were met by Miles, Concierge extraordinaire, to the greeting on the 7th floor check-in, we knew we had made the right choice. Everything about this hotel is done with guest comfort and satisfaction at its core. Greeted by a smile and a glass of champagne, it even gets better when opening your room door to find out what awaits. A comfortable bed, complimentary well stocked mini bar, top of the range personal accessories including Dyson hairdryer, coffee pod machine and milk frother. There is even a clothes steamer. No expense has been spared. I can’t wait to return and have found a hotel that leaves me in no doubt as to where I will stay on my next visit to Edinburgh. Thank you Market Street Hotel, you hit the mark admirably!

Market Street Hotel is an excellent place to stay. We stayed three nights and I couldn’t fault any aspect of our stay. Staff are very helpful. Rooms we stayed in were excellent, again couldn’t find fault in anything. Would go back in a heartbeat. EXCELLENT!!

So this “trendy” hotel has a great rooftop restaurant and is in a great location but the rooms are a triumph of style over practicality and whatever you do don’t accept a room at the back ! The bathroom is separated with the basin in a corridor with very poor light if you are trying to shave or do your make up. The window curtain is a door that helpfully when open blocks the mirror! The bed was two singles hopelessly placed beside eachother so if you are feeling romantic be prepared to bridge the gap! Worst of all at level 3 if you are at the back your “view” is in to a pub that perhaps not surprisingly stays open late and is very noisy! Cannot recommend

It is some time since I wrote a tripadvisor review for a hospitality establishment. The 5 night stay from which I have recently returned has to be recorded withh a few words. It is a fantastic hotel. Modern, having only been open since 2019. The staff (best part of it ) are attentive, polite, knowledgeable, efficient and really friendly- from the young conscierge in the lobby downstairs, to the manager, bar and at reception on the top floor where a view of part of the City is to die for- surely one of the best in Edinburgh. The breakfast at £18.50 is very good- full english is cooked to order whilst you help yourself to all the other items on display. Champagne to start if you wish and which is also offered to you at reception when you arrive to check in. After breakfast, floor 7 becomes the bar and lounge through to late evening. You can entertain friends there as it is open to non residents as well. The bedrooms are smart ( we stayed in "cosy"rooms ) and are spotlessly clean. The thing with this hotel is that everything works, from the 2 lifts that whisk you up or down without a wait to the ordering of taxis by pressing a button at reception and finding it is waiting for you outside the lobby a minute or two later. We thought it was value for money too. there was an easy going atmosphere and found it very unpretentious. All in all, we had a wonderful stay, not forgetting its location in the centre of Edinburgh very close to Waverley train station and in the Old Town. EXCELLENT.!!

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights and held a champagne reception for friends and family for a "big" birthday. The staff were incredible and so attentive. Our room was perfect and all in all the weekend was a great success thanks to the efficiency and attention to detail. We're already looking forward to returning. Thanks Market Street Hotel!

Market Street Hotel is extremely well located in Edinburgh. It is right next to Waverley station and well positioned between the Old and New Towns. The rooms are not luxurious but comfortable and well furnished. WiFi and desk space in rooms is great if you need to work. Breakfast is very good, with huge variety and the bar/breakfast area has a great view of the city. A few minor areas where we felt the hotel could have been more accommodating: the hotel asks that you pre book a suggested time for breakfast. This felt unnecessary given we only saw a few other guest at breakfast. At breakfast the hotel staff don’t make you coffee rather suggest using a machine. This seems strange given there is a beautiful machine at the bar.

We had such a lovely stay here. The staff were so welcoming from the moment we arrived. Beautiful bar with views of the city for breakfast or evening time drinks. Beautiful selection for breakfast and the champagne was a lovely added touch. Room was gorgeous too and perfectly located for exploring Edinburgh. Really couldn’t fault the place!

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed in! From the warm welcome at reception with champagne to the excellent facilities and the room (we had a vista room) I couldn't have faulted it. Staff were so welcoming and helpful. Wee touches in the room like the Dyson hairdryer and ghd straighteners, excellent mini bar made our stay extra special and definitely worth the money. We will definitely be back 100 % the location is literally less than a 5 min walk from the bus stop and on the same street as waverly train station. 10/10 from us...market street..till we meet again thank you for an amazimg stay!

Market Street is just an exceptional hotel. We have stayed here many times and always look forward to being back here. The location is ideal as you are right in the city with great views of it from your room. The rooms themselves are comfy and lovely- great bathrooms and fab wee minibar. Staff have the balance of being incredibly professional but are also warm, friendly and helpful. Champagne breakfast is always a real decadent treat and the food is fabulous. Thank you Market Street for a great weekend (and some fabulous Aviations in the bar! Perfect!)

This is my favourite hotel in Edinburgh it’s perfect! Quirky though also conventional in all the right ways. Lovely spacious rooms with great little touches. It is modern with Scottish charm and so are the staff. The mini bar is free and topped up daily plus other little things that you’ll find out, discover just trust I’ll let you be surprised. Breakfast is yum and don’t normally eat it. It’s central and walking distance to everything including the bus tours. I’ll be back 🤗
