Market Street Hotel is an excellent place to stay. We stayed three nights and I couldn’t fault any aspect of our stay. Staff are very helpful. Rooms we stayed in were excellent, again couldn’t find fault in anything. Would go back in a heartbeat. EXCELLENT!!

Myself and my partner stayed here for 4 nights and what can we say, we loved it here.
First of all it’s perfectly located opposite Waverley train station so easy walking distance to all the main attractions.
We had a cosy room and before we arrived I was a bit worried it was going to be a bit small but I was wrong, for a cosy room it was more spacious than expected. The area as you walk in had the sink with drawers and shelves and the wardrobe with a door off in one direction for your shower and toilet and then the other way the shutter doors to your bed with more drawers, dresser, chair and a nice size TV.
Mini bar was complimentary, we enjoyed the crisps and biscuits which were regularly restocked but you also had drinks in the fridge which we only had a water and the G&T on the last night. We only had tea in the room so can’t comment on the coffee facilities.
Dyson hairdryer and GHD straighteners are a great touch. I always take mine with me as a regular hotel hairdryer isn’t sufficient for my long thick hair, so I appreciate this from a hotel :)
The slide wooden-door over the window in the room is great and really cuts out the light. Fab little slippers and dressing gowns also included. Great sized toiletries, bigger than the regular toiletries you would normally get, including shampoo and conditioner, so there was no need to take with us.
We had the breakfast rate so had breakfast every morning. Breakfast was in Nor Loft which is the champagne bar so perfect location to see out over some of the Edinburgh sights, including Princes Street. You have numerous items to help yourself to, including tea, coffee, juices, cereal, toast, fruit, etc and then 5 or so items you can request to be cooked for you. I would question if it’s actually worth £18, however the staff are so lovely and welcoming and the views made it. On the menu it does have champagne and it’s under the help yourself section but I could not find it :) although I didn’t need it as I did indulge in a few glasses in the bar in the evenings, plus we got a complimentary glass each when we checked in.
Overall we loved our stay here. Loved being greeted by a member of the team on the ground floor each time we returned to the hotel, to the reception staff on floor 7 and the team in Nor Loft. We hope to return one day...

My partner and I stayed for 3 nights over New Year. Location is fabulous and hotel was lovely, welcoming and clean. We stayed in a roomy room which had comfortable bed, good quality linen and was completely free of noise from neighbouring rooms and outside. The toiletries are nice, and the provision of ghd’s and dyson hairdryer offer convenience and quality. We also had a clothes steamer which was great for getting rid of those creases from packing.
The sink is in the hall area immediately outside of the bathroom. It didn’t bother me but my partner thought it was odd. Lots of mirrors and an opening window in the bedroom were welcomed.
The TV is modern and offers movies, some very recent such as The Joker. The Complimentary mini bar is a welcome treat, and snacks and an emergency hangover kit left on NYE was fun.
The reception on level 7 is next to the bar. Staff are pleasant and helpful but when we arrived although greeted warmly to be told ‘we’d usually offer you a glass of champagne but we’ve run out of glasses’ isn’t actually that welcoming. Perhaps say nothing, particularly as the bar is next to reception!
The bar.....has great potential. Lovely, well made cocktails by the smart and professional bar man (sorry I didn’t get his name). He was the only person preparing drinks, and organising the other staff. However despite us going every day during our stay my partner was annoyed that there was never any draft beer available. More annoying is the reservation of tables for non residents. Twice we were told we couldn’t have tables near the windows as they were reserved by people who never turned up. Perhaps change the booking system?! Allow people to book but don’t guarantee specific tables, that way people who are residents or just walk in feel welcomed and able to sit at a free table. Customers right there under your nose surely have to be given priority to those who may never turn up.
Despite the great effforts made by the main barman, his colleague completely let the side down. Disinterested, no eye contact, no smile, a little untidy in appearance. We sat with empty glasses for quite a while despite the waiter just stood doing nothing. I hope the manager notes from this review who deserves credit and who requires training. The frustrating comments are made to help the management and not to put you off staying. It’s a lovely hotel. Sort the bar out and I’d say it’s excellent!😀

I booked my stay here as a treat for my last night in Edinburgh, and I'm so glad I chose this hotel! It's brand new, the amenities are fantastic, and it is right next door to Waverley Station which means it is extremely central.
The reception staff was super welcoming, and my room was ready even though I arrived at 10am! It felt like a total treat to drop my bags off and sit down for a nice cup of tea before setting out for the day.
I booked a cosy room (the smallest one) and it's definitely bigger than the photos on the site show it to be, with a little foyer with an open wardrobe, an attached bathroom, and a separated bedroom. For couples, it's very convenient that the sink is situated in the foyer rather than the bathroom. The foyer and bathroom are tiled, and the bedroom has floorboards.
First off, the amenities are great. They provide you with slippers, toiletries (including tampons!), hair dryer and straightener, shoe brush, comb, clothing steamer, and a few other things. The minibar is FREE so I definitely indulged a little!
The bedroom was just amazing. The bed was very comfortable and I didn't want to leave! My window looked out into an alley occupied by other apartments/hotels, but it was quite a charming view, because everything in Edinburgh's Old Town is extremely beautiful and historic.
It was blissfully quiet and I enjoyed a peaceful night of sleep, and woke up relaxed and ready to go for the day. I'd opted to purchase the breakfast (you save £3 if you pre-book!) so I headed up to Nor'Loft. The waitstaff were very helpful, and I was able to go out onto the balcony and enjoy the view of Edinburgh's Princes Street & Christmas Markets. The food was delicious!
I also really liked the bathrooms in Nor'Loft. They are unisex but each cubicle is basically its own tiny ensuite with a toilet and sink. In the main bathroom, there's a long wall with a mirror, lighting, stools, and table built into the wall for those wishing to primp.
Overall, this hotel blew me away. The relatively small size of the hotel and all the little extras that were included made my stay that much better. I'll be back in Edinburgh soon, and I'm already keen for my next visit to Market St Hotel!

Christmas gift of dinner at The Kitchin. We stayed overnight here. This hotel is so central and literally a two minute walk from the exit of Waverley station. On entering we were greeted by two cheery concierges who gave us a wonderful warm welcome. The hotel is beautifully designed with lots of quirky touches that draw your eye. Reception staff were so professional and helpful. The security of you room card only allowing you to enter your own floor is a welcome addition. We had a “ Roomy Bath” room. And it was amazing. We were on first floor at front on busy street and so feared noise at night. Need not have worried. No traffic noise in day and at night not a sound was heard. The rooms are so well designed. Heavy oak sliding doors that roll to cover windows to ensure darkened room reveal a full length mirror. Beds super comfy and room temperature so easy to control. Lighting controls are easily accessed to give the required light level. The quality of furnishings is outstanding and all perfectly placed for ease of use. Electrical products are fabulous. Dyson hairdryer, GHD straighteners and a brilliant clothes steamer make it so easy to pack for an overnight stay. No need to bring all your own items. Breakfast in the morning was superb. Natural yoghurt was fabulous and the poached eggs were perfection. I could not recommend this hotel enough.

Had a stay here for my anniversary, and I have to start this review by saying the staff are amazing.
Everyone from the reception, restaurant and housekeeping teams went out of their way to make us feel special. Some of the best service I’ve received in a hotel.
We do however, need to talk about the sink.
We had a vista room (the views are spectacular) and it was a huge room. You enter into a weird dressing area with a wardrobe and a rather large empty space. There’s a lovely bathroom on the left with a spacious shower and toilet… but no sink!
The sink is a black marble affair that’s actually located on the back wall outside of the bathroom in the giant empty dressing/sink room.
Quirky.
You then enter the main bedroom through two wooden flappy saloon style doors, they flap both ways so you can nail your John Wayne impression going in and out. The room was beautiful, but the lighting is interesting to figure out, and never actually that bright!
Let me tell you what is bright, the little green LED on the skirting board, yup, that ideal LED location, the skirting board.
It was brighter than the sun, only No hope of it setting.
This light serves no purpose, why Market Street why but was the only downside to the stay, albeit a humorous one.
Another quirk was the lack of curtains, soft furnishings, us? Nope, let’s use doors.
Surprisingly effective actually.
The food on the 7th floor is amazing, whatever room you stay in, pay extra for an included breakfast, it has everything and was delicious.
I’ll definitely stay here again (armed with LED cover)
Oh, one very important titbit, free minibar!

Dear Bugwyn Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I am glad to see you enjoyed your overall stay with us and the quirks you found with the room. The sink outside of the bathroom is referred to as an Ante -bathroom. This design concept is to maximise a space and create a buffer zone. In the bedrooms this area acts as your dressing room/make up room. Although uncommon, this is what makes us unique in comparison to other hotels. The LED light near the ground is actually a carbon monoxide alarm, which although can be annoying depending how you are as a sleeper, is mandatory. Our designer chose not to go with curtains and instead go for the solid wooden shutters, as this plays homage to feeling as though you are in a castle, and your closing up your fortress to stay safe and warm, but they are also great form of sound proofing. Overall, I am happy to see you enjoyed the design of the hotel, although it can be consider quirky, everything has been designed with purpose. If you do choose to stay with us again, please ask a member of the team and we will be more than happy to tell you the concept and story behind the desgin. We do hope to welcome you back in the future. Kind Regards Paul Reid Rooms Division Manager

We arrived early on the 2nd January to break our journey home after visiting elderly relatives and the hotel is so warm and welcoming Pablo informed us we had been upgraded wefelt absolutely spoilt he also presented us with a lovely glass of champagne . After lunch on returning our bags were in the room and what a room it had a fantastic view of Princess Street and everything was perfect a fantastic bed like sleeping on a cloud a great mini bar /powerful shower /good quality bath products non cluttered lay out and I just loved the sliding window shutters the whole design concept is just what you want it is not a stay it’s an experience. We will definitely be back and make it a two night stay to experience the hotel properly Thanks to Pablo for looking after us so well and after looking after elderly relatives you made a great start to the New Year

We recently stayed for one night. Arrived a little early and hoped to leave our bags and go out, however our room was ready for us. We had a lovely room on the third floor looking out over Waverly Station. Although on a busy road we didn't actually hear any noise from traffic or the very close by trains. Room was well equipped with complimentary mini bar, coffee machine, dyson hairdryer, ghd straighteners, robes and slippers, and full size toiletries. The bed and pillows were so comfy. We booked the grazers package which included 3 small plates and a glass of champagne each at Nor Loft - it was lovely sitting outside and the food was fabulous. Every member of staff was friendly and helpful. Only complaint is we only stayed one night!!

Booked a last-minute stay in Edinburgh for two nights- pleased with the choice to stay at Market Street Hotel due to convenient location next to Waverley. We booked direct on their website which proved a better option than if we had done so via other websites. We stayed in a Vista room on the fourth floor and had breakfast in the Nor’ Loft both mornings. As you walked into the room there was a sink and wardrobe on the left with a sliding door to the bathroom. Straight ahead was shutter doors which led to the bedroom. There were nice touches in the room such as Nespresso machine, milk frother, complimentary mini bar, dyson hair dryer, ghds and a handheld steamer. The bed was comfortable, and we really liked the design of the slide door over the window which blocked out all light and we could hear no noise during our entire stay despite facing market street/ station.
Some grumbles included: nowhere to hang a towel near the sink, complimentary champagne was included at breakfast yet there was no mention of this, binoculars could not be located in room, it was difficult to fill the kettle from tap, and it was difficult to cool the room down as the window did not open & the aircon was not up to the job.
Breakfast was well organised given the current circumstances, we booked a table when checking in for 8 am and luckily were seated by the window both mornings which provided a great view whilst having breakfast.
We felt that every precaution had been taken to make it a safe environment for both guests and staff, and staff were welcoming and professional- also full of knowledge.
Perfect for two night and will definitely be back (just perhaps not if warm weather unless there are windows within rooms at this hotel).

Overall a lovely hotel but massive room for improvement, the staff let us down on multiple occasion.
Firstly i organised this trip as a surprise for my partners 30th birthday, I emailed the hotel ahead asking to add breakfast onto our booking, this is where the first problem arrived, there was no recollection of this when we checked in.
It was also failed to mention to us, that if we wanted housekeeping that we had to ring reception and ask for it, we stayed for three nights and left the ‘clean my room’ on the door daily, the cleaner was in the room next door thinking they would clean it, we went and asked reception on the second day, but because it was after 5pm nothing could be done. Again disappointing, and should have been mentioned to us for a hotel of this standard.
Finally my partner proposed to me during the trip, and had asked reception to organise some balloons in the room on our return from dinner, when we arrived back he was disappointed nothing had been done, and the room was as we left it, when he went to ask the following morning, he was told there was nothing on the system which is a huge shame, as an apology they did provide us with a free glass of champagne each, but it was very disappointing to him that this had happened, and the following day this could have been rectified by leaving them in our room, but yet again, no cleaning service, no balloons or congratulations.
The above issues were during a three night stay where the hotel was pretty quiet, as it was during the week, our visit could have been 10x better had these issues not have arised at such a special occasion, so unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to friends and families.
Rooms and location were excellent but major improvements need to be made in the staff training/ communication as this should not be happening at this standard of hotel.
Firstly i organised this trip as a surprise for my partners 30th birthday, I emailed the hotel ahead asking to add breakfast onto our booking, this is where the first problem arrived, there was no recollection of this when we checked in.

I believe so
It’s as the above reviewer (Marrick), mentioned, There is a walk in shower room and toilet but the sink and shaving / hair drying area is on the area outside the shower room before you enter the bedroom. Unusual but space saving and effective.
I also do not know and suggest you ask the hotel directly.
Yes it does and it is very good
I don’t think the hotel do you would have to ask them but we recently went to Spain and used a company called Randox who were very good I’ve just looked on their website and they do PCR tests from as little as £55 results back within 24 hrs but they also do one for £80 results back within 1-3 hrs they have a test centre in Edinburgh city centre and one at the airport if that’s any help just type in Randox Edinburgh which should take you to their website
