I stayed for two evenings on business and it would have been longer if they weren't fully booked due to the festival. John and Margaret were lovely, warm and welcoming. My room was clean, tidy and equipped with facilities for making a brew plus there was a TV and free WiFi. They also recommended local places to eat. John got...

Margaret and John were extremely welcoming and helpful during our stay. Their BnB was very clean and well kept. Our room was comfortable, and having been our first night in Scotland, our stay was a great introduction to a beautiful and friendly country. You certainly won't leave hungry as their breakfasts include a traditional Scottish breakfast (beans, fried egg, hash...

Pros: very clean and tidy; well cooked fried breakfast but no choice of white or brown bread (seeded only - my sons would have liked white so they didn't have toast); handy for the bus (20 minute ride) into city centre. Cons: Craig's Room, at the front, the family room, is facing the main arterial A8 road, and was, along...

We stayed at Thistle Dhu for just one day and night. Margaret & John welcomed us into an immaculately clean and comfortable room. The ensuite bathroom with a good shower plus shower gel and towels too. On Sunday morning a generous breakfast was prepared for us in a spacious dining area overlooking the garden. They made sure that it was...

We arrived late but by this time, we had a choice of restaurants to go to thanks to couple who thought of it! The accommodation was absolutely awesome and the location stunning! My friends could not believe how good the accommodation was! The next morning the breakfast was as good as anywhere you could wish for and they could not...

We were in Edinburgh for our grand daughter's first birthday - an important milestone - and returned to Thistle Dhu where my wife had stayed for a visit to No. 1 daughter just over a year ago, and we weren't disappointed. John and Margaret were most welcoming for our four night stay, and provided excellent breakfasts each morning. The beds...

The bus (31) from Princess Street, dropped me off right outside Thistle Dhu, John and Margaret were extremely friendly, very warm, sincere and welcoming. I was given the choice of two rooms, and I chose one which was named: "Craig's room" after their son (seemed fitting, as my name is also Craig!). All of the rooms are lovely; clean, comfortable...

A warm welcome from both John and Margaret and show to an immaculate room. A good start! Then a sound sleep, perfect breakfast and good local guidance! A short two night stay for a sad family occassion but nonetheless a true home from home experience. Candidly can't suggest a single improvement and wholeheartedly recommend.

We stayed there for a short night before leaving at 4am for the airport. The hosts were really nice and helpful, it's a pity we didn't get to stay for a little longer! The room was very clean and comfortable. Definitely recommended!

Have stayed here every year we come to Edinburgh. John and Margaret are like family now. The rooms are so comfortable you are guaranteed a good night's sleep. The shower was big enough for my six foot son to fit in quite comfortably. Breakfast is excellent. Recommend to all.
