We stayed two nights in June (Friday and Saturday). Our room was huge and well appointed. The staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast is an intimate affair in that you eat it with the other guests. That feels a little odd to those of us used to keeping to ourselves at breakfast however it worked really...

The restaurant has four bedrooms in a central location in Edinburgh. We were on the top floor. Large, very well appointed and comfortable room, immaculately maintained and cleaned, enormous superb bed, large bathroom with rainfall shower, and very nice sofa and chair. Great view over Fife from the windows. Huge wardrobes, plenty space , bathrobes, slippers and plenty towels and...

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay. The rooms were tastefully decorated with plenty of sitting space in the room, in addition to the communal lounge area. Our rooms were at the top of 4 flights of stairs and no lift so this may not suit all travellers. The complimentary port and still / sparkling water was a nice touch....

Thanks for taking the time to post a review, it was lovely having you all here and glad you enjoyed it. ( if not the luggage trek....!)

21212 is well known as an award-winning restaurant in an upscale residential area of Edinburgh, but its four well-appointed bedrooms were a special find at a reasonable price. We were not able to have lunch or dinner there because the restaurant is closed on Monday, but the delicious breakfast gave a good indication of why the kitchen won a Michelin...

We stayed the night in the rooms above 21212 after a meal ( see separate review). Our room was finished to a luxury standard and sold for a very reasonable price. The bed was comfortable with nice linen and the shower was nice and powerful highly recommended.

We stayed at 21212 during our last three nights in Scotland. A converted "brownstone," 21212 is in a beautiful, centrally located, part of the city, and is a perfect blend of boutique hotel and B&B. We enjoyed every aspect of 21212, from the helpful staff and fantastic accommodations, to the amazing food. Whether or not travelers decide to stay here,...

If you are on the fence about where to eat and where to stay in Edinburgh, 21212 is the solution for both. We had the opportunity to dine at the Michelin Star 21212 restaurant and then walk up the gorgeous staircase and sink into a comfortable bed. 21212 is a restaurant with rooms. Not a hotel or typical B&B because...

My wife and I recently spent a couple of night at 21212 in order to visit Edinburgh. We arrived on Sunday afternoon and had good communication from the hotel explaining that the restaurant was closed Sunday and Monday evenings. We also were pre warned that only continental breakfast was available on Monday morning and a better selection on Tuesday mornings....

This is a small restaurant with rooms. the restaurant is amazing and not to be missed if staying her. In fact we only stayed her because of the restaurant. Thanks for choosing to stay here at 21212, It is a restaurant with rooms with the highlight as you say being the restaurant ( although we are fond of the rooms too ! ). Not a hotel but nice just to walk upstairs ( or climb..) after a fulfilling dinner. Hope to see you again

We stayed at the 21212 at the beginning of a week long tour of Scotland. I really liked that the hotel was perched on hill on a quiet, semi-residential street, which made it feel more private and special. Though it wasn't on a bustling city block, it was very very easy to walk down into the city center. Our room...

Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighbourhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighbourhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicentre Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
