The Mansion House traditional rooms are all unique in size and style and the House is full of period features from the 18th Century. Masson rooms are spacious and modern, and all have top of the range Elite mattresses and new fitted bathrooms with drencher showers. All of our rooms have large TV’s with a wide choice of Freeview channels, free WiFi, and a desk to work at if required, and a great selection of premium ground cafetiere coffee and award winning Novus teas. All of our bathrooms come with fluffy towels and complimentary Arran Aromatics bath and shower gels. Masson House is where the reception, lounge and restaurant are located. Relax in the Lounge with a drinks and food menu available from 14.30 daily, before going out to explore the City, or enjoying dinner in the Bistro. The Hotel also offers room service in both the Mansion House and Masson rooms. Our acclaimed Full Scottish breakfast is also served in the Bistro. Self-select from an extensive range of cold items whilst hot items are cooked to order. Local produce and its provenance is important to us and included in our breakfast are Charles Macleod Stornoway black pudding, Stobbs Farm smoked back bacon, Hornigs haggis and Borders sausages. This hotel is part of the Pollock Halls of residence although a separate entity. We managed to park at the first small car park from the entrance but were told that we could have used any of the car parks on the complex so I assume that parking would not have been a problem. The staff on reception and in the bistro were quite helpful and we had a modern room overlooking Arthur's Seat. The room was very comfortable. We went half-board and were given a monetary allowance for the evening meal which would usually be enough for most of the choices. Breakfast was quite good and, all-in-all the stay was good value for a hotel with car parking not far from the city centre. We walked to Holyrood Palace but it is a fair walk back from Princes Street but there are regular buses that stop in close proximity to Pollock and you can get out to sights on the south and east of the city quite easily by car.

Stayed for one night with wife excellent service from staff could not fault from check in to service at breakfast to checking out room’s spotlessly clean in a great area for exploring. Would have given a 5 but thought breakfast menu was a little limited although perfectly cooked will certainly return

Fantastic weekend for my wife and I on our anniversary break. Staff were excellent, very polite, knowledgeable and helpful. Hotel location was great. Just a 20 minute walk into the centre and 2 minutes from the start of Arthur’s Chair. We had a room with a splendid view of Arthur’s Chair which was the perfect sight to wake up to. The breakfast was filling and very tasty. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Booked this hotel based on other customers reviews. I was a bit apprehensive with it being on a university campus but there was no need to worry. Great location. Walking distance to castle but also a bus stop right outside. Hotel staff all very friendly and hotel following Covid rules etc. The room was lovely. Very clean and the bed was the best ever so big and very comfy. Breakfast was very good and could not fault it. We ate in the Bistro one evening - not an extensive menu but what we had was very nice. Free parking which was very good. Excellent price for two nights and I have already recommended it to several friends. I would definitely go back. 👍🏻

stayed here for 2 nights, we ended up in the masson building which isn't the old building. from the inside the place was amazing(not as attractive from the outside). We checked in and had a ground floor room, which was very nice with a very lovely bathroom. After checking in we tried to get a table but they were busy so couldn't get one until later, they did however reserve us a table for night two, they also pointed out that there is an offer on for early birds. We had great nights sleep, a great breakfast and explored edinburgh, to get to the royal mile and the castle its a good 30mins walk. great to not be too close to the centre and all of the noise but close to Hollyrood park and arthurs seat. The restaurant was lovely, we had a main & dessert rather than starter. we had a nice plateful and didnt have to wait to long, the food was nice and hot. We had lovely meal and the staff were friendly enough. Again another great nights sleep and another good breakfast. We had to ask for the food rather than a buffet due to Covid!
