The Tontine is a lovely hotel, stayed with my mum for a relaxing couple of days. Our room was extremely clean and cosy, loved the toiletries and the coffee/ tea selection. Breakfast was delicious and we ate in the hotel one evening, the venison was superb. The best thing about the hotel was the staff, everybody seemed genuinely interested in...

We were given a one night stay as a Christmas present by my family and glad they picked the Tontine. Looks small from the outside but its like the Tardis inside. We were in room 34. Beautiful room and spotless en--suite, no traffic or other noises. The Tontine has a fascinating history as we discovered, the clues in the name. Loads...

Location is terrific- right in the centre of town. Although decor wise it could do with an update everything else is excellent. The lounge area is very comfortable with a roaring fire at all times of the day and evening; the food is beautifully cooked and presented; the attention to detail and service from the staff was some of the...

We stayed for an overnight on a deal which included cream tea, with the most beautiful scone and prosecco taken in the lounge by a coal fire - perfect after a 7k walk in the cold! This inviting hotel is run by lovely friendly staff and you instantly feel at home and warm. The room was on the top and...

We stayed here towards the end of January after a long journey from 'doon the sooth'. We received a warm welcome from reception, being dealt with very quickly, ordering dinner then relaxing until meal time. We were allocated a very comfortable room in the rear annexe - a name I dislike after some annexes we've had experience of - but...

My wife and I have just spent the night at this hotel, and the staff have got to be the friendliest and most efficient anywhere, nothing was too much trouble and they all had smiles on their faces. We arrived Sunday afternoon and had afternoon Tea on arrival, with great fruit scones. Later that evening we decided to eat in...

Roaring coal fires, generous en suite bedroom, grand Georgian dining room, cosy bars and lounges and a welcoming, very professional welcome from all the staff without exception. Peebles is lovely with fantastic walks from...

"Fabulous" review, many thanks indeed "Helen E". Love your recommendation about the "cosy" public areas, which we agree, are so welcoming on a cold winter night. Thank you also for highlighting the service from the team of staff here at "The Tontine". Kate, Gordon Innes & "The Tontine Team".
