I recently visited the Bay Waverley Castle Hotel I would like to say the staff couldnt do enough for you they were all so pleasant. The hotel itself was clean but could do with upgrading a bit. The food that was available, there was something on the menu to suit everybody. The entertainment was ok one night there was a...

The hotel was disappointing in so, so many ways. The interior of the hotel is VERY shabby with wallpaper hanging off the walls in bedrooms and on corridors, although the public rooms have been refurbished. None of the windows can be opened in bedrooms and very few in the public rooms. It was unseasonably hot on our visit and all...

This hotel is mainly used by coach trips and we were independent guests. We had left our suitcases there in the morning and gone out to work - a little shocked to receive a telephone call just after 9pm asking if we were intending on checking in. The person at the desk clearly wanted to go home and sleep! There...

Busy hotel which is cheap and cheerful. Half board rates around £50 per night. Clean rooms, comfortable beds. Hotel is around 1 mile from town centre. No problem with this as the walk into town and back is pleasant.

This hotel was a good choice for us when we came to Melrose for rugby 7s. About a mile walk from the town, which meant it was away from the noise of rugby revellers on the Saturday night. I would advise booking a premium room as although the standard room is clean and comfortable, a small additional charge for the...

Self drive weekend with friends. Typical Shearings hotel. Rooms good enough for the weekend white bedding very clean and lovely fluffy towels. Food pretty much standard but noticed salads had been removed from menu choices a huge disappointment for me. Breakfast excellent choice although the hash browns were very hard and greasy. The staff were very slow at refilling tea...

I wasn't sure what to expect as the price was so low but I need not have been concerned as everything was first class throughout. On the second day of my holiday I had the misfortune to have lost my purse, all my money, cards, ID whilst on an excursion to Edinburgh. The Manager of the Hotel, James was extremely...

Very helpful staff, great food on offer. Good value for money. Entertainment at night, high standard , but a bit near the bone which is sad as it was good. Ideal location for seeing the borders. Easy access as well from all routes
