While many guests applaud Village Hotel Aberdeen for its attentive service and spotless rooms, others have noted inconsistencies, particularly in the restaurant and during check-ins. A number of travelers find the noise level concerning, with early morning disturbances and loud gym music occasionally disrupting the stay.
The hotel's amenities, including the leisure facilities and breakfast, are generally well-received, but some guests mention overcrowding and a decline in quality. Despite mixed reviews about food quality and additional charges, the location's convenience to the city center and airport is a highlight for visitors.

I booked this stay for a weekend break for my fiancé’s birthday. I booked it over the phone with a buy a gift voucher and the process was so simple. I had dinner included for 1 night, breakfast for 2 days and had upgraded to a Club room which was value for me as meant my fiancé got to use the gym, sauna etc during our stay and we had access to Sky movies etc.
Check in was a slight issue in that the card maker on the machine we were using didn’t work. So had to get the receptionist to help with this. Wasn’t a real issue.
Room was clean and modern. We had a rain shower head over the bath so this was good to have both options. Big bed. There is soft pillows on the bed and in the open wardrobe space there is extra pillows which are firm. No biscuits with tea and coffee facility but again not an issue as we got some from Tesco which was not far.
We also had a spa day booked which we did before checking into hotel for our 2 night stay. Used sauna and jacuzzi (unfortunately steam room was out of order but this can’t be helped) I had a facial which was fantastic, my skin was left feeling super smooth and my fiancé really enjoyed his back massage so I can’t fault it.
We decided to have dinner in hotel on the Friday night. This was included. Yes as others have said the set menu selection is not vast but we found something on it we would like. We had starters of nachos and chicken tenders. (Chicken was cooked perfectly, not dry) nachos were in a cheese sauce (some places have a cheese sauce that is really sickly, this wasn’t. It was actually really nice) we both then had the burgers which were very good. Chips were cooked unlike in another review so our dinner experience was great.
Saturday we had breakfast and there is a good buffet selection, cereals, yoghurt, fruit. Scrambled eggs, tomato, mushroom, bacon, sausages and beans. Toast and some pastries. They will also make some items to order: porridge, omelettes, fried and poached eggs. My fiancé had the porridge and omelettes during the stay and couldn’t fault it. The staff were friendly and helpful.
He also used gym facilities while we were there and thought they were really good. He was particular impressed by the swimsuit dryer and the showers in the changing rooms. He said his mind was blown by the swimsuit dryer haha.
I am checking out today but have had a fantastic stay and would definitely return to this hotel.

We stayed at the Village hotel 27/05/21 to 29/05/21 . This was the first time we had been to the hotel and it was the first time we had stayed at any hotel for over 18 months . Our first impression of the hotel was Wow ! Very modern , nice and clean also the grounds and surrounding areas were immaculate. First of all don’t book this hotel through booking.com or hotels etc . Download the app it’s a lot cheaper for example if I booked with booking.com for the club room with the free leisure facilities and breakfast it was working out at £230 . With the app for £149 we had club room , breakfast, leisure facilities, free parking, late checkout, and £40 to spend in the restaurant on our first night ( it’s a no brained) . Things are a bit different now after COVID for example, if you book for 2 nights your room only gets cleaned before you arrive and no one comes into your room till after you have left, so no bins emptied or bed made . If you want clean towels you have to put them in a bag and leave them outside your room door . We liked the room on the 4th floor (room 414 ) nice view and comfortable bed . We had breakfast and dinner in the hotels restaurant on both of our nights. Breakfast isn’t buffet style .When you get escorted to your table you will get a menu with either cooked, vegetarian or continental breakfast accompanied with tea or coffee and orange juice . The evening meals were just as good as the breakfast . I would recommend using the restaurant as it was fantastic. We never used the leisure facilities but we did notice that it is not only for hotel guests I would imagine that it is very busy because all you see at any time of day is locals the have memberships trailing in and out of the hotel . The car park was very busy but I would think most of them were people using the leisure facilities The only downside to this hotel is the lack of staff. This hotel has the potential to be very very busy but as we start to get back to normal you guy’s definitely need more staff . The restaurant and bar staff are run absolutely ragged. Starbucks in the hotel is great it’s just a shame it closes at 5 pm . Would we return to this hotel again? Yes absolutely. We had a great stay and can’t wait to return!!

Ok so this weekend we visited the village hotel aberdeen again, we do every year but this is the first time post covid. Some positives and a few negatives going on, first of all the set up during this pandemic is good all family members felt safe throughout, proper social distancing measures in place, anti bac in appropriate places ect. Staff were very friendly and bubbly at breakfast and dinner, unsure about reception as the two times we needed someone for information they were unavailable. Few negatives, we booked a dinner bed and breakfast stay, once dinner was ordered we had a further £20 to pay and can honestly say I grudged it we both had steak and it was so full of fat and inedible really disappointing on our anniversary but due to covid no staff checked on us to find out, kids meals were good value though they enjoyed. Sadly the room was full of negative points, air con was not working room was sweltering hot and had to have the window open not that happy with young children so high up on 4th floor but when I approach reception about it no one was there and the online chat from the app that they advertise in rooms doesn't appear to exist. The drain in the shower I accidentally moved with my foot and it came off and underneath was disgusting not been cleaned in a long time, also the kids dropped a toy that rolled under the bed and when moved the bed the carpet was covered in old food stuffs, not great when you think a hotel would have been deep cleaned prior to reopening this lead us to question how clean the room really was. Overall it's not a bad hotel someone really does need to put in some attention to detail when servicing the rooms though, sadly on this occassion we feel a bit let down and did not enjoy our anniversary as much as we had hoped.

I have been staying here for work at least once a month for the last 2 years. My stays started off really well, pleasant, friendly, helpful etc
However I’ve had so many issues with being put in rooms above the gym.....why is this not discussed at check-in? And why would you possibly expect customers to pay the same price to be woken up in the early hours, it’s absolutely ridiculous!
On my most recent stay of a week in mid Jan, I was given an accessible room. There was an adjoining door to the room next door which rattled all night long. There was also a huge gap at the bottom of the door so I could hear absolutely EVERYTHING happening in the next room. I was woken at 2am by voices coming from the adjoining room along with hearing the person do the toilet.....a number 1 & 2 might I add! Absolutely disgusting. Then at 6am there was another rendition!
The accessible shower room was not suitable for me to use. To take a shower you needed to sit on a fixed plastic seat(I did not want to do this) the seat I assume is meant to flip up, which I did until it smashed down on my hip several times
When speaking to reception there was a ‘couldn’t care less attitude’ they couldn’t change my room. I asked for someone to fix the seat in the shower, this request was ignored.
I was told as the hotel was full I had to come back that night to see if there was an available room to change too. They would pass all my details on to the next shift. Of course this wasn’t done!
I don’t understand again why guests are being put in a room that isn’t fit for use
I noticed a strut card on a table saying £5 parking charge which I assumed was for non residents. But actually there is now a £5 per night parking fee!!
Unbelievable and no notification on this.....why would you not be told this at reception or by email when you check in
Such a shame as could be a good hotel but I think you are taking your custom for granted. Definitely the last straw for me and the last stay at The Village

We booked to stay the night as Tribute guests were receiving 10% off., our Tribute tickets said 7pm, however starters didn’t arrive until almost 2 hours later. There was a big delay between service. The soup tasted of strong stock cubes, main course was nicer although very small. The Tribute act came on about 10pm only for an hour. The dance floor wasn't big enough for numbers attending. Some people left and some resorted to dancing at their table. The hotel had tried to add an extra 5 people to our table of 7, this was in their T&C’s. After much persistence on my behalf and a helpful General Manager,John, this was sorted out and we were kept as a table of 7. The tiny bar had only 2 people serving. The bedrooms were lovely but we had to phone Reception as our room didn't have enough towels, cups, coffee, milk. 1 of our party was on a different floor which wasn't ideal. We had breakfast included, the toaster didn't seem to be working, food not replenished and cold.Despite fully paying on checkin, I received an emailed invoice for breakfast for the 3rd guest in the double double room. I emailed the hotel the same day to query this. I was ignored until Friday13th March after calling the hotel another 3 times. They have said we have to pay breakfast for the 3rd guest in the double double room as only breakfast for 2 guests was included! There are plenty other hotels in Aberdeen to choose from and with the amount of hassle we had here, this isn't one I would return to or recommend.

I stayed at the Village Hotel Aberdeen on Fri 25th & Sat 26th June with my partner. The hotel offers contactless check in and check out options at the reception area.
The hotel room was clean, comfortable bed, massive TV on the wall, good tea and coffee making facilities. I especially liked the eSpa hand wash and shower gel in the bathroom. The power shower was amazing and loved the aromatherapy scent from the eSpa shower gel.
The housekeeping staff did not clean the room during our stay due to Covid19 guidelines. If you wanted the towels replaced by housekeeping the hotel encouraged guests to leave the used towels outside the hotel room door.
I would recommend contacting the hotel in advance to book the swimming pool & sauna slots. As you are given 20 minute time slot for the sauna and 1 hour for the swimming pool. The hotel only allowed 2 people in the sauna & the steam room was out of order.
The swimming pool and changing rooms were clean & clear Covid19 signs.
We booked the hotels bar & grill for dinner on the first night. If you order food & drink through the Village app customers receive 25% off discount.
There’s a Starbucks coffee shop, which makes amazing coffee & sells sandwiches / toasties etc. 🤩
I would highly recommend the hotel, as staff were lovely, welcoming, friendly, hotel was clean & following the Government Covid19 guidelines.

Good:
Village often have good deals, mine was the entry level room and it was more than adequate for an overnight stay. Having experienced the Club Room a few weeks ago at another Village location I Would suggest that unless the rates are very close in price for short durations there is little need to pay extra for the Club Rooms.
Good facilities, comfortable bed with plenty of pillows. Bathroom fine if a little basic, but the shower was adequate.
The Village is situated on a Business campus about 20 minutes west of Aberdeen Centre, with easy and convenient free parking.
Bad:
For a hotel group that relies on IT and modern technology The Village Group are a bit of a disaster. I have never managed to get the Online check-in to work properly without the assistance of a humanoid, and in this case no key was produced. High time Village stopped pretending checking-in without human assistance might be a good thing and revert to good, old fashioned receptionists.
The receptionist who did actually produce a card/key was remarkably curt and churlish. Having spent a few minutes on the phone in her office while seeing me and keeping another guest & I waiting, she gave me the key without even directing me to the lifts for access to my bedroom.
Small point, this is the first time I have ever encountered the ironing board in full view within the room.very curious.
The instructions to turn on the TV were confusing and inaccurate, and as with all the other IT solutions I encountered, seemed to create more delay and complication.
I ate dinner in the restaurant. The menu consisted of what can most accurately be called ‘enhanced fast food’ and again, what is the point of ordering online directly when you have to ask a humanoid for a glass of water? Yes, it beats me too!
Overall decent accommodation at a good price, just lose the inefficient ‘technology’ -its human beings checking in, not robots.

My partner and I really enjoyed our stay. We were slightly disappointed as to how small the bedroom was however it was all clean, fresh towels were in a plastic bag and the door had a sticker to say that the room had been cleaned and ready for use.
The hotel uses an app for ordering drinks and food reducing the contact with staff, once set up it was easy to use. The staff in the restaurant were fantastic, polite and very helpful.
The menu for the grill is limited but the food tasted nice and came relatively quickly and hot. As a heads up if ordering food on the app order a course at time or it will come all at once.

I really appreciate you using the App as the more is gets used the quicker the team and I familiarise ourselves with it. More and more hotels are using App based systems now for ordering, some guests love them, yet after all we have been through in the past 12 months currently the App is proving to be winner for us. Thank you again for choosing Village Hotels as your prefered Brand and we look forward to welcoming you back to see us again soon. Kind Regards John

Stayed at the village king wells Aberdeen for a “make the best of it” Christmas get together with 2 other couples excellent value for money at £79 for d/b and breakfast (£40) restaurant credit. Rooms all sealed on arrival having been sanitised. Lovely meal all at separate tables. Nice breakfast all felt safe and not crowded.

Extremely limited booking slots for using the pool. Unhelpful staff member on duty at the leisure desk told us to take our towels from our room for using at the pool, during times where we have such concerns for passing on a virus this was not ideal. We requested more towels to our room though they never arrived hence using the shower in our room resulted in using dirty towels that had been at the pool side. The leisure staff reception member (female working evening of 14th Nov) had quite an attitude, really felt we were putting her out, actually she ruined our stay, other staff working in that area were friendly. We would have taken our concerns to the front desk had there actually been a member of staff working, seems that the front desk has been switched to a computerised check in. Avoid this hotel, they are obviously running for those with gym membership and the hotel side of things is a complete after thought. "Covid" is not an excuse, we have had far superior experiences in other hotels during this Covid period, it is very obvious that The Village are simply trying to cut costs and save money. The room was clean, the bed comfortable and we had Wifi, these are just the basics that you expect, though it would not have been worth paying any more than we did. At this point in time we wouldn't recommend staying at this hotel until things are "back to normal".
Another important point, the bath in the room is far too high, if visiting with a disability try your best to obtain a disabled access room, though you will be very lucky to get through (over the phone) to the Village hotel to arrange this and there is no facility to pre-book online. Secondly, the disabled parking is notably abused, this has always been the case, furthermore the hotel actually "lets out" 3 spaces as advertising space to Specialist Cars to park. The above simply demonstrates a disregard to disabled customers.

Response from John Karwl-Jackes, General Manager at Village Hotel Aberdeen
Responded 16 Nov 2020
Hi Freybon, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a detailed review, It is fantastic to hear from you as you have clearly highlighted some areas as a team we can work on. Covid is not an excuse at all it is all about us all working together to ensure we deliver our services to our guests as safely as we can in the environment we have. I fully understand that some of the systems we have brought in are not for everyone yet they do allow us to keep our guests and staff safe. Any of our guests can request an accessible room which comes with a lower bed, and a fully fitted out wet room with appliances at a suitable level. As a hotel we always want to make our guests feel comfortable and I am sorry if we didn't reach your expectation on this occasion. Please do come back and see us again and let me know of your requirements before you arrive as it would be great to see you again. Kind Regards John
