Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Ok place to stay for a night , location not too bad either . Friendly staff though make the hotel worth it. Hotel is clean with nice showers, unfortunately they have a problem with the heating and no windows in room and no lift.

Doesn't know what its called( soprano or Aberdeen hotel). The reception person very rude. No windows in some of the rooms. No mirrors in the bathroom. Dirty reception and rooms. The only thing it has going for itself is a good location. But If your able to use another hotel .please do.

I had stayed here before as it was good value and a handy location near the station and not far from Union Street. When I booked it was still Soprano St Magnus but when I arrived it had become the Aberdeen House Hotel. Renovation work was underway which should provide some improvements. Prospective stayers should be aware there is no lift. However they no longer do the fabulous Scottish breakfast, just a continental buffet for a higher price. Also the staff left a lot to be desired. Although it is cheap I will not be staying there again.

A lot of stairs, up to a cold room. Why do people like to slam doors, at 4am ??? The room and the en-suite facilities, were reasonable, allowing for the fact, that it is a budget Hotel. Great location, not far from the Train and Bus Stations, with very helpful staff.

Saw the reviews and agree this is more a hostel all be it a great one than a hotel. Staff were friendly. I was single traveller so usually have to pay supplements but this was a great price. Room was small no window but large bathroom had big window so no problem. Very clean tea coffee and tv is everything needed. Only gripe was no bedside lamp and no heating - there was a radiator in bathroom which was off so might be a problem in winter. Also no lift so stairs may be a problem.

I must've been staying at a different hotel than the other reviewers of this hotel as I thought it was PERFECT! £38 for the night and it was so central, lovely big clean room with bath, super comfy beds. Staff were lovely and friendly and I loved all the original features and the lovely cosy bar. Would totally recommend it.

Booked a twin room and asked for an early check in as we were travelling down to Glasgow, the woman at reception was rude and unhelpful and said my bag that I had to leave at reception would be placed in my room. Arrived back to hotel at 01.30 to find the room had a double bed and surprise, surprise no bag and nobody at reception

Prior to a visit I had stayed here before I checked after a delay in traveling to be met with a room that hadn't even been cleaned, I returned to reception to inform them to which I was asked "was I sure" the receptionist went upstairs to clean the room, not being unreasonable I decided to sit and wait in the bar area whilst they cleaned my room (wasn't offered anything by way of a refreshment) finally after 27 mins I was able to enter the room. I reported this the following morning and was told that they where sorry and they hoped to see me soon. In this day and age when the travellodge is so cheap I would recommend booking that rather than staying in this place with such amateurish staff and standards.

I booked this very quickly as I needed accommodation for 3 days. I arrived and it was incredibly hot and I had lots of bags. Couldn’t pay by card so I had to go all the way back to union square and then go back and pay in cash. I felt this was a huge inconvience when I had just been travelling for 3 hours. Then I was left to pull all my luggage up 4 flights of stairs with no assistance offered. After I found my room I opened the door and the room was disgusting. It was not cleaned and the smell was horrendous. I called the hotel as I was 4 flights up with 3 bags and did not want to go back down. Thankfully the cleaners were brilliant and so efficient so I got in quite quickly. The host of the hostel was pleasant and did apologise. But I should not have been checked in if my room wasn’t ready. Very unprofessional. The shower had no hot water until about 8pm so could not have a shower in the morning. The shelves in the bathroom were hanging by a thread and so wobbly. Apart from this the room was basic and met my needs. But I cannot believe there was 3 pounds difference from staying here to the premier inn/Travelodge so I will be staying there in future as they have parking and more organisation to know not to check you into a dirty room. Their facilities are also better looked after. There are some pictures of the room to give you some insight of the facilities you are provided with and there is also a picture of the room when I arrived.
