Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Spent Christmas Eve at the Marcliffe.Lovely festive atmosphere in the drawing room 🎄. Loved the pianist playing .Stayed in a Deluxe Room which was spacious and clean.Liked the seperate shower and bath. Too many hotels going down the road of large showers and no bath. It's nice to have both If being extra critical the room was probably due a wee revamp,as are the corridors leading to the rooms.Loved the Christmas goodie bag left in the room for us 🎁A lovely touch! Food was really good and we really enjoyed both the evening meal and breakfast .Staff all friendly and helpful.Room Was very reasonably priced for Christmas Eve too .Would definitely recommend to friends and will be back !!!?

Spent 2 nights at this stunning hotel. From the minute we entered the cosy, beautifully decorated reception, till the minute we sadly had to leave, we were blown away with the service and standard of food & drink. We attended the Christmas party night, which was lots of fun, and the food and service were superb. Our room was very comfortable and very well appointed. The bed is probably one of the best I have slept in. Very quiet and peaceful setting. The mini bar with fresh milk was a nice touch, much nicer than the horrid longlife milk supplied in other hotels. Lovely selection of biscuits also! I'm guessing the bathrooms have recently been upgraded, lovely big sink and walk in powerful shower. The breakfast both mornings was delicious. Hot food made to order. Very busy service on Sunday morning, but still excellent, professional service! Lovely crisp linen table clothes & napkins and very attentive staff where anything we asked for was not a problem. We have been fortunate enough to stay in many fabulous hotels, the Marcliffe, for us is up there with the best! Didn't want to leave.

Delightful two-night stay at The Marcliff we hike visiting and golfing in Aberdeen. From check-in to check-out, we had a fabulous visit. Our bedroom was so romantic and spacious. Their restaurant is outstanding and food was delicious. The entire team treated us totally throughout or stay. The property is located in a very quaint community with easy access to Aberdeen. Kudos to the their breakfast chef who prepared the best omelette ever!

Very nice hotel, staff, location, room, and facilities. Junior Suite room (#306) was very comfortable and spacious. There was the occasional bit of outside noise that could be heard during early morning deliveries or staff outside chatting near our windows. Food was very good, with the hot cooked breakfasts a particular standout (tasty and served quickly). Minus half a star for a couple of issues (one steak was severely overcooked; one room service order arrived a bit on the cold side). Whisky selection was excellent (if a bit overpriced). A few quirky internet and TV reception issues at first, but those ultimately got resolved. Staff was consistently friendly and helpful, with any and all requests dealt with promptly and efficiently. (Nicola, Emma, and Tony, in particular, were wonderful, as were several others whose names we unfortunately didn’t catch.) Location is great; just a bit outside of town so quiet and restful, but just a short drive into town (decent bus connections also, within walking distance). Overall, a very nice and comfortable hotel in a great location, with excellent staff and service. Would stay here again and highly recommend to others.

We had been treated to a night at The Marcliffe by a local car dealership as we were driving from Suffolk to Aberdeen to collect our new car. What a treat that was..... we arrived and we're placed in a room with a patio doors leading out into the garden area and as we had our dog with us, this was perfect. The room was gorgeous and there was an even a welcome for Fugly_the Frenchie!! As we had had a long journey and Fugly we decided to have room service, both for dinner and breakfast. Both were delicious. Bed was huge and very comfortable. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Staff were polite, not over the top sickly nice (you know the ones that you just know they're going say stuff behind your backs because they're not really being nice at all) especially Tony (I hope I got his name right) the man who delivered our breakfast was just lovely, genuine kind and even got Fugly more treats... He made a great impression, so huge thanks to him. All in all we had a really nice stay and would like to return for a couple of night whilst touring the area. This was my first trip to Scotland and couldn't have wished for a nicer time and apparently, we were blessed with nice weather. Can't believe I'm 47 and never been, have been missing out on such a beautiful country! As for the Marcliffe..... again, we felt very spoilt and would highly recommend and will definitely be back one day.... thank you x

We stayed 1 night at The Marcliffe hotel and was impressed with both the staff and room. The staff were amazing especially the lovely Iranian gentleman whose name I didn’t get in the lounge I believe he was the bar manager and Shannon the waitress in the restaurant. The food was fabulous one of the best steaks I’ve had in a long time. The breakfast was great too with so much fresh food to choose from. The room was superb, clean and spacious. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are ever in or near Aberdeen.
