Family group of 2 single adults and couple. All rooms were reasonably priced, clean and well decorated (looks like recently refurbished). Tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer, ironing board and iron in all rooms and fridges in 2. All agreed beds very comfortable. Staff very pleasant and helpful. The Breakfast menu offered something for all tastes and was first class also it was included in price. Large and varied menu in restaurant which we didn't sample but hope to do so in a future trip. Rooms at front overlook main road & fairly busy in daytime. Nighttime was quiet even with both window in bedroom and bathroom open. Some rooms at back have a small balcony overlooking allotments and very quiet.

This was a pleasant 2 night stay at the hotel. The room I was in was quite large but as it was booked for me I have no idea if it was a double or superior double room. It was very clean and was warm. These was tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Despite having a room facing the main road it was very quiet. The restaurant offer a reasonable choice of food but I admin=t I was taken aback at the cost of a soft drink. A bottle of Diet Coke was £3.20. Compared to the food on offer that seemed expensive.

Family meal tonight. Very much looked forward to it having enjoyed many a meal at the Cults Hotel & the Mariner Hotel.
Did have to wait a wee bit for a drinks order however upon no fault of the Hotel, the ambience was well & truly ruined by a large group of noisy guys celebrating a birthday. Hey, Im not old, love a night out etc but Jesus, we actually couldn’t hear each other speak!! Thankfully my kids thought the swears were funny!!
Our mains of roast chicken were lovely. Very enjoyable indeed. We did ask for one of the 3 x roast dishes ordered to have the red wine gravy separate (just in case my 12 year old didn’t like it) but that didn’t happen. Thankfully he liked it, otherwise that may have been an issue. Maybe your waiting staff could ask if any extras are required, my husband didn’t spot these on the menu & likely would’ve ordered had this question been asked? Resulting in him still being peckish! My eldest’s double portion of crispy chicken was not a patch on the Mariner version (quantity & quality) according to him but decent enough.
All in all, was an enjoyable (ish) meal but your bottled water prices were indeed a bit of a surprise when paying the bill.
£5.50 for a large bottle.
Perhaps take a leaf out of other local Hotel’s that offer jugs of still water at no cost delivered to your table without question? After all, we do live in the north east of
Scotland with wonderful soft water at our disposal!. I’d be more inclined to order a cocktail etc as opposed to your water charges!

On arrival there was a dismissive attitude from the receptionist, but I thought that she was busy maybe. The room was small but we were only there for a night, it looked fine. I went into the toilet and there was a short dark hair in the wash hand basin and another behind the toilet lid. This made me look about and then I found several on the floor, along the length of the shower. We were going out so told reception staff who said they would send someone up to clean it. When I came back in about 11pm the hair on the toilet was gone but were still on the floor. I got some wet tissue and swiped the floor and cleaned the hair and what looked like drips of urine off the floor...I told the staff the next day and said I left the tissue as evidence...they didn't seem in the least bit bothered..or embarrassed...

Hotel was more run down that the pictures. We were woken up at 5am Sunday morning by cleaning staff hoovering outside our room and banging on the door and skirting boards. When asked politely if this was his usual schedule he was really abrupt, didn't apologise and blamed management. I said I understood he didn't set the schedule and reported this to the front desk staff in the morning and asked for the manager to call me to discuss as we have a 9 hour drive ahead of us in the morning and unfortunately couldn't get back to sleep after the disruption. He never called and so this has not been resolved. My first ever hotel review but I just wanted to warn others....Don't stay here if you want to have a sleep, not worth the money or the unpleasantness!

The standout quality was the bed and bedding (Room 7); possibly the most comfy and best hotel sleep in very many years. Clean and good decor. The restaurant lost the hotel some stars. I understand it's trying to establish itself as speciality fish restaurant, but the dishes looked very much like pub grub only at a higher price. I had one evening meal of Mac and cheese and sorry to say it gave me an upset tummy (I had nothing else to eat since breakfast). Staffing was short but everyone was friendly and tried to be helpful. I chose the hotel because of its location with the work I had to do locally. It needs to raise the bar to compete with the many other low priced hotels in Aberdeen.

I cannot say enough good things about this excellent small hotel, well located on the western fringe of Aberdeen and the eastern edge of Royal Deeside. Just been there with a group of golfers, and it was a perfect location for our visit to the courses of the area. Rooms recently and very well refurbished. Spacious, comfy, nicely set up bathrooms, great coffee set up. The hotel sits close to North Deeside Road, I had a front room and worried a bit about the noise, but it was no problem at all, with windows open. Excellent food, very nice bar. But the real USP was the staff. Welcoming, friendly, always happy to take the extra step. Bit of a crisis on our last morning as there was a water main break (not nearby, and clearly no fault of the hotel). No water at all for a couple of hours. Staff rallied and provided terrific bacon/sausage rolls to replace the usual (excellent) breakfast buffet, kept us informed and even, entirely without our asking, put a small discount on our bills. Great place, great staff. Go.

Overall a lovely afternoon. Neutral, light and airy decor/surrounding. Quiet day (mid week visit) and staff were attentive without being obtrusive. Service had a “village” vibe, friendly and engaging but not pushy on upselling which is a refreshing change. Would have appreciated a few lighter lunch menu options eg sandwich/soup, salads, but chose the macaroni which was delicious. Prices are the higher end of the scale so more a one off visit or special occasion type of place than the typical local place you’d visit regularly.

Used to love this place but recent visit was very disappointing. Still the beautiful decor. Service was very slow - ages before started arrived, was cleared away and main arrived. Staff under trained and my heart went out to the new waitress (her first night) who seemed to have no support. Staff were unable to advise what drinks were on offer, wine was average to less than average. Menu was very limited (where’s the old choice gone?). Food (when it arrived) was tasty enough but on the cold side and Sunday roast gravy appeared to be rationed. Prices were high for the standard delivered. They seemed under staffed and under supervised - not like the Cults I remembered. Given the option of other venues in the nearby area, which are excellent, I would not go out of way to return any time soon - hopefully things improve!

The restaurant is very tastefully decorated and the staff were friendly and attentive.

The food was nice, although a bit basic. The menu doesn't match with the restaurant ambiance and has a bit of "pub grub" feel.

Overall, we would return but the menu maybe needs re-worked.
