Did have to wait a wee bit for a drinks order however upon no fault of the Hotel, the ambience was well & truly ruined by a large group of noisy guys celebrating a birthday. Hey, Im not old, love a night out etc but Jesus, we actually couldn’t hear each other speak!! Thankfully my kids thought the swears were funny!!
Our mains of roast chicken were lovely. Very enjoyable indeed. We did ask for one of the 3 x roast dishes ordered to have the red wine gravy separate (just in case my 12 year old didn’t like it) but that didn’t happen. Thankfully he liked it, otherwise that may have been an issue. Maybe your waiting staff could ask if any extras are required, my husband didn’t spot these on the menu & likely would’ve ordered had this question been asked? Resulting in him still being peckish! My eldest’s double portion of crispy chicken was not a patch on the Mariner version (quantity & quality) according to him but decent enough.
All in all, was an enjoyable (ish) meal but your bottled water prices were indeed a bit of a surprise when paying the bill.
£5.50 for a large bottle.
Perhaps take a leaf out of other local Hotel’s that offer jugs of still water at no cost delivered to your table without question? After all, we do live in the north east of
Scotland with wonderful soft water at our disposal!. I’d be more inclined to order a cocktail etc as opposed to your water charges!
The food was nice, although a bit basic. The menu doesn't match with the restaurant ambiance and has a bit of "pub grub" feel.
Overall, we would return but the menu maybe needs re-worked.
