Hotel's Favourite
Maryculter House is a slice of heaven in the highlands, from check in to check out the welcome is friendly and warm and staff going the extra mile comes as standard. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable , a lot of thought has gone into their design. There is a proper carton of milk in the fridge and a personal cafetière plus still and sparkling water in cans (very environmentally friendly). There are Molten Brown toiletries and a very comfy bathrobe. We stayed in a River View room and were lucky enough to see a seal, a kingfisher and an otter all from the comfort of our room.
The food at Maryculter House is excellent. Breakfast caters for every taste and includes smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, a Full Scottish and even porridge with a wee dram of Royal Lochnagar whisky. We ate our evening meal in Poachers which has an open fire for added ambience and windows overlooking the Dee. I had the chicken with wild mushrooms and sweet potato which was superb both in taste and presentation. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and the wines were good value for money. There is a bar area for those just wanting a drink and a good selection of whisky and gin.
Maryculter House also does packages including concerts at the P&J in Aberdeen. We enjoyed the Rod Stuart event in December last year and it was amazing value for money. We had fantastic seats, access to the VIP lounge and were chauffeured there and back. A great meal in poachers before the event plus a night cap in the great hall when we got back. It was a complete experience and worth every penny.
Maryculter House is the perfect destination for a weekend or even longer and we will certainly be heading back there as soon as we can.

Had a very enjoyable stay from start to finish. Cosy fire at reception and friendly polite check in. Room 205 was clean/ tidy with a great amount of space even with the sofa bed bed set up for daughter. The room is right above reception we weren’t disturbed by noise at anytime. Dinner in the restaurant was very good with just the right amount of interaction with the waitering staff. After dinner we had drinks in the bar before returning to room for a peaceful nights sleep. Breakfast started with a wait for a free table and staff were obviously trying to clear tables etc as fast as they could - once seated and food order taken all went well. A great wee stay to start 2020 with.

We took advantage of the Autumn Getaway offer and had a fantastic time. After reading reviews we requested one of the recently refurbished rooms and paid extra for a terraced room - well worth it with doors out to the grounds overlooking the river.
The meal was excellent - unlike most DB&B deals we could choose anything from the main menu (highly recommend the pork belly and beef dishes), and the food was really good. The wine included in the deal was also decent enough. The breakfast was also really good.
The staff were great, the measures in place for covid were reassuring without feeling intrusive, and so we felt totally relaxed during our stay.
Highly recommended and sure we'll be returning!

We stayed over for a 1 night stay for a family wedding. Room was on the ground floor, room 108. Room was decent sized with a bath, walk in shower and a big bed. Staff at check in were friendly and we were able to check in before the wedding so we could get ready at the hotel. All we had to do was phone in the morning to check and if our room was unoccupied the night before we could check in early. Rooms were quite warm but bed was comfy enough. Only problem was the walk in shower area- the shower soaked the whole of the bathroom floor even with shower turned away from entrance and my husband actually slipped and fell in the bathroom as he didn't realise the floor was so wet. They do provide a small towel for the floor but the area soaked needed a bath sheet and all the small towels but even better would have been a very large non slip bath mat. Breakfast was nice with a good choice to order. Again friendly staff. Shower was reported on check out and reception staff said she would take a note and get it looked at. So hopefully they will do something about that. The hotel itself is in a lovely setting with the river just outside and nice grounds.

I would like to thank you first of all for taking the time to review your stay with us and for your most valuable and constructive feedback. I can indeed confirm that the information regarding the shower was indeed passed to our maintenance team who are actively trying to rectify this moving forward. It may be useful for me to say at this stage that we are in fact currently undergoing an extensive refurbishment plan which will see all of our bedrooms and bathrooms reconfigured which should eliminate the possibility of the above. I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us and do hope that we have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. Kindest regards Kelly

My husband and I visited with our dog for 5 nights in September. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds next to the river Dee. We had a suite overlooking the river with our own patio doors which was perfect for taking our dog straight out every morning for a walk. The room was very well appointed, beautifully decorated, extremely comfortable, had everything we needed and felt luxurious. Bathing with Molton Brown products over looking the sunset on the Dee was priceless. No part of the hotel felt ‘doggy’ as some dog-friendly hotels we’ve been to do- everything is spotless and fresh as well as being cosy and atmospheric. The decor is beautifully done. The whole building is full of period character.
The service was top notch and the food in the restaurant excellent. We had a wonderful varied breakfast everyday and ate in the restaurant most nights.
There is so much to do on the doorstep and Aberdeen city centre only 15 minutes drive away. I would highly recommend this hotel whether you have a dog with you or not. I shall definitely return!

I went for Dinner on Monday 03/08/2020. We were served by Peter, who was lovely and welcoming. I had the Grace's Highland Beef main and my friend had the mushroom arancini and we couldn't fault either. We were a bit rushed for time as we had booked a drive in cinema nearby but we couldn't leave without trying the biscoff cheesecake and Peter made sure it came promptly (we didnt even have to ask as he had remembered the time of our film from an earlier conversation). In addition to this, Peter then offered us takeaway cups of tea to take to our film - 10/10 service :)
This was my first visit to Maryculter and one of my first meals out post lockdown and I will 100% definitely be back. The tables were suitably set up, there was a hand sanitizing station and all staff had the appropriate PPE.

Fantastic evening spent at Maryculter House Hotel attending this years Hogmanay Ball which for us has become an annual event with a group of friends
I’d like to say a special thank you to all your staff from the booking of the event until we had to say goodbye for another year. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone, professional at all times and always with a smile

I would highly recommend anyone to try this lovely hotel. From the warm welcome we received on arrival to the beautifully refurbished Classic Room with a view of the River Dee. They’ve thought of everything, robes, slippers, iron and ironing board, clothes brush with shoe horn, to the Molton Brown toiletries and bottles of chilled water and fresh milk in the fridge. The bed was super comfortable and the room itself was immaculate. The attention to detail was superb. We ordered the welcome chocolates for our arrival, which were to die for!
We were fortunate enough to have beautiful weather which allowed us to sit outside with drinks overlooking the river. The gardens are very well maintained and the views from the patio area are tremendous.
The food served in the restaurant was delicious and well presented. I can highly recommend the smoked salmon starter followed by the chorizo crusted halibut. Everything was cooked beautifully and very tasty.
This hotel is a combination of contemporary decor and traditional furnishings, which just works. Keep up the great work Maryculter House - we’ll be back!

Had the most delicious Sunday Lunch here today! From the moment you enter your feel safe in these Covid times and the staff couldn’t be any friendlier and informative. The menu is superb and great value for money with 2 courses being £20 and 3 courses £25 per person. The Portsoy Salmon to start was amazing and the beef from McHardy’s in Stonehaven was cooked to perfection all rounded off with the less fattening pudding option of Castleton strawberries! Peter Walker and his team doing what they do best!

We stayed for one night in one of the newly refurbished rooms which was beautifully decorated in subtle heather colours. The bathroom was to die for with fluffy towels and Moulton Brown toiletries (it's the little things). Walked the river walk, enjoyed pre dinner drinks in the Great hall followed by a delicious dinner, can recommend the highland beef. Breakfast was good - porridge with a wee dram!
Customer service was exemplary, nothing was too much trouble from the friendly & knowledgeable staff.
Such a shame we live 450 miles away.

Hi Alison,
We do have rooms that can take extra beds and baby cots, these are generally the classic rooms for one extra bed or a Junior suite for larger families. Extra beds are £25 per bed, per night including the breakfast for the child.
