Mercure Aberdeen Caledonian is an elegant Victorian hotel overlooking Union Terrace Gardens in the city centre. The locally-inspired design, with its Renaissance style of architecture in white Kemnay granite with stained glass windows, reflects Aberdeen's rich and varied heritage - from the harbour and beach to the many beautiful castles with their colourful histories. Located in the city centre, the hotel is ideal for guests attending for both business and leisure. Guests can enjoy afternoon tea, a snack or a light meal in the elegant Bistro restaurant. Relax and unwind with a selection of international dishes cooked to perfection by our chef, before grabbing yourself a drink or two at the bar. Away from the hotel, guests can experience the majesty of Union Terrace Gardens. The main train station is just a ten-minute walk away, while Aberdeen's old fishing Village, Fittie, is just a short distance further. From the A90, follow signs for the city centre and Union Street. Half way down the main thoroughfare, turn left on to Union Terrace, Mercure Aberdeen Caledonian Hotel is on the left after approximately 100 yards.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely hotel, in a central location for visiting the City. Friendly staff and excellent food. Well worth a visit. The rooms are a good size and lovely and warm. Bed was comfortable too. If you want to stay in a central location with easy access to all the amenities, then this is the hotel to choose.

Booked this hotel with an Itison voucher. Great value for double room with breakfast and late checkout. Room was clean and comfortable. The food in the bar was from a good sized menu of typical bar meals. It tasted fine with good portion sizes. There were a number beers not available in the bar so that was a pity. Breakfast buffet was excellent with choices of cooked and continental breakfast. Location of the hotel is bang in the centre of Aberdeen so ideal to get to most attractions. The staff deserve a special mention. From checking in to the time we left they were friendly, helpful were keen to make our stay a good one. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it.

After reading reviews I was a little surprised. The hotel was great. Central, clean & very warm despite the howling gale & freezing temperatures outside. The Itison deal made it a bargain & we would visit again.

Dated rooms, definitely need’s updating. Stained carpet and walls. The location is excellent though and the staff is both friendly and helpful! Overall had a great stay, but would probably choose another hotel next time.
