Really disappointing experience. It's just a really weird little place with strange staff. 10 pound a cocktail on a table that wasn't even wiped down for us. Nothing special or five star about it. It's definitely no Westbury in Dublin. If only Jury's bought it and made it a real 5 star...

We called for an afternoon tea at 2pm on Tuesday and were refused, being told the place was fully booked. All tables were empty bar one and no alternative hospitality was offered. It's a sad day in Belfast when a pensioner and his wife are turned away without even an apology. We've been here before and, while it doesn't compare...

We arranged a surprise 60th birthday dinner in a private room. From initial booking to service on the night the team at The Merchant were very helpful and accommodating. The room was beautifully laid out, with menus personalised for our event. Our food was delicious and drinks were flowing all evening. The two wait staff were superb and definitely helped...

We stayed here for St Patrick's day as two couples. We had a really memorial stay. We booked a package of champagne on arrival, one hour spa and special nine course tasting menu. This wasn't cheap and was worth every penny. We enjoyed cocktails in the cocktail lounge before hand. The spa area is small but has everything you need...

My wife and I had been meaning to visit Belfast for a long time and finally made it. The Merchant was recommended to us and we were delighted with all aspects of our 2 night stay This is a truly 5 Star hotel, the historic building is most interesting and the great room is magnificent and our dinner there was...

We recently stayed at the hotel (midweek) on a package which included a two night stay with dinner in Bert’s Jazz Bar as well as City Bus Sightseeing tickets. (The food was so good in Bert’s that we returned for a second night!!). We had booked an Art Deco room which was brilliant and extremely spacious. We also used the...

We spent one night at this beautiful hotel as a birthday treat. The size and decor of our Art Deco room was superb. Staff were warm and friendly - check-in & out, concierge, cocktail bar and Great Room for dinner. Food was gorgeous, both dinner & breakfast. We were lucky to be seated immediately for breakfast (9.15am) but we could...

We just went for afternoon tea so can't comment on the other facilities of this beautiful hotel. The sandwiches, cakes, tea and service were excellent. Highly ornate decor, beautiful chandelier and toilets. Would go back for afternoon tea again and maybe dinner.

I cannot rate this hotel highly enough, yes it is expensive but worth every penny! The beds are like sleeping on a cloud and the service is fantastic. The food in the Great Room is spectacular...as is the breakfast...but make sure that you save room for afternoon tea. The spa is definitely the worst part to the hotel but that...

We recently stayed at the hotel on a winter package which included an overnight stay and 3 course dinner, and it was amazing! Check in was quick and friendly and we were able to check in early which was greatly appreciated. The Art Deco room was fabulous, extremely spacious and comfortable. Two large TVs in the room with free Sky...
