Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We went to visit my niece at university. The staff there are really friendly and helpful. At short notice moved us to a family room putting in an extra bed and looking after luggage for us before check in and after checkout. They also have a direct line to local taxi service so no waiting for a taxi any more than couple of minutes.,The travelodge is located by the train station (bit of a run down area) and is only a 15 minute walk to university, close to shops and restaurants but weather so bad (Storm Dennis) we used taxis most of the time -again friendly and inexpensive. The travelodge is basic but clean, room warm and there was a kettle with tea/coffee. It is what you expect from a travel lodge but customer service excellent.

I stayed at this Travelodge for work and was pleasantly surprised by the rooms they were very clean and the kingsize bed was extremelycomfortable. I was checked in by a lovely young lady Wendy who was extremely helpful and gave me all the informationi needed about places to eat all in walking distance. The hotel had covid signs & hand sanitizing areas on the walls. Reception was a little busy when I arrived but Wendy made sure that everyone kept there distance and stuck by the rules Very well done. I will definitely be booking to stay at this hotel in the future.

This Hotel has recently undergone a complete refurbishment with all new carpets, blackout curtains and other fittings including USB points for the desk and bedside. The rooms now have a comfortable chair and an armchair. The decor is new and the Hotel now gives a feeling of comfort and value.
It's location directly opposite the Newport railway station is ideal and it is only a few minutes walk to the city and valleys bus stations. The shops and restaurants are equally only minutes walk away.
The Staff are always very pleasant, friendly and very helpful. They are very efficient in their work and the rooms and public areas are always clean and well presented.
I consider this Hotel to be the ideal choice for my Newport holiday.

We visited this hotel as a family of four for two nights.

On arrival we requested:
• Extra Fan
• Extra Pillows
• Extra Towels
• Extra Coffee, Etc

All were delivered without delay and with no fuss.

Being located right in the centre of Newport with several eateries and bars on the doorstep (including a Wetherspoons), along with being less than a mile from the local football stadium (Newport County), the location was perfect for us.

Thank You!!

I stay every week at the hotel as I work in Pharmacy in the centre . I’m always greeted by the staff who take time out to ask how I am . Nothing is ever too much for them . Location is excellent for me as I commute in by Train and my work is a two minute walk from the hotel . Rooms are always cleaned to a high standard and comfortable to relax in after a long day at work . If I have had an issue with my room it’s been dealt with efficiently.

Very clean room bathroom spotless could do with more amount of soap from the dispenser. Pillows and bed nice and comfy.Friendly welcome and good helpful staff. Close to station but not so you hear them through the day or night. and good places to eat locally.

Great helpful staff, good location for Newport and close to main station. Great for pet owners also!

Easy to access this hotel and windows are good at blocking out noise of traffic outside. I would stay here again.

Don’t go there!!
•. Gave us the wrong postcode to begin with. We were driving round for about an hour.
• we had to pay for parking and was given a code for a discount with NCP if we downloaded the app. Did this, took ages and then couldn’t use the code. Then was charged twice!!
• that left us too late to sit out for dinner.
• rooms were smaller than usual!.
• only one bath towel between two and enough tea bags for one!
• next day went out for the day. Came back to rooms not cleaned, no clean towels or bins emptied or replacement tea facilities- was then told they are only cleaning rooms after 6 days due to covid. Would have been nice to be told on arrival!
• had to fetch our own clean stuff.

Never again- have used travelodge for years but would be very reluctant to use them again now

I stayed here for work and had a perfect stay. The room smelt fresh and was spotless clean. I was welcomed by Wendy at reception who was extremely pleasant, Very helpful and made check in hassle free she gave me all the information about places to eat and all the shops near by. She is a credit to the company and more Travelodge hotels should have a receptionist like this lady. Only down side about the hotel is the car park is very small and i was unable to get a space but when i spoke to Wendy about other places to park she gave me a discount code for the NCP car park which is right at the side of the hotel and only cost me £5.80 for 24 hours. I would 100% recommend this hotel.

With this hotel, it’s like any of the Travelodges. You get a decent bed for a cheap price. However this one excelled with the staff always being willing to help and nothing is ever too much.

I’ve asked them so many questions that they know me by my first name now without search me up. Over the last week and a half staying here for business it just goes to show that the staff here are just friendly. For example, I needed an extension for a couple of days. However, I was on my way to work so I couldn’t do it there and then, The manager said it’s not a problem and will sort it out when I get back which to me it is excelling toast their job role.

Another two great staff members, and forgive me because I forgotten their names is the night worker and the red haired lady. Always greeting you with a smile nothing is ever too much for them and always just seems to be positive. You feel like you can have a laugh and a good chat with them.

Now with all this positivity there are some downsides but with any cheap hotel there will be, the outside needs a good clean up, The emergency housing residents are not always the best. And the car park is tiny.

However positives outshines the negatives. No doubt!
