The Future Inn Cardiff Bay is applauded for its cleanliness and value, with guests highlighting immaculate rooms and reasonable room and parking rates, although opinions on the breakfast's value vary. While the amenities are satisfactory with spacious rooms and ample parking, some guests feel updates are needed. The atmosphere blends dated and modern elements, creating a comfortable but inconsistent vibe. Its location near Cardiff Bay is appreciated, though not central. Rooms are roomy but face critiques regarding decor and noise. Service is generally praised, except for occasional staff issues.

If you just need a decent hotel, with easy access to (free) parking, in this part of Cardiff, then this hotel is a decent option for you to consider.

The staff were welcoming and helpful, and quickly found a new room for me immediately after first checking-in, as I stepped into first assigned room and straight back out…The rear of the hotel backs onto a relatively busy road, and due to the very rainy weather the noise of the cars hissing by was very loud in the room, even on the 5th floor.

The replacement room was on the front and very quiet. I didn’t hear any neighboring rooms despite the hotel being quite busy. Only the occasional door slamming in the hallway. The carpet was being replaced in the property during my visit, and my room had recently been done as the carpet was very soft and clean. The beds were firm, but I sleep better that way. The general cleanliness was OK, but there were hairs along the wall in the bathroom, along with questionable stains and it definitely felt tired.

The tired feeling continued through the bedroom. The wallpaper and furniture really shows its age, and the lighting was not great. The one spotlight on the wall over the desk would flicker and then just switch off for a while. The iron was a dry iron, rather than my preferred steam iron.

Unfortunately the climate control system would only blow the same warm air regardless of the temperature selected. I could live with this IF the windows could be opened. They can’t. The first room had a tiny vent over the window, but that didn’t do much other than let in more road noise. My second room didn’t even have that.

No working AC or access to an opening window is a dealbreaker for me, and a single reason why I will stay elsewhere next time I am in town.

There was the usual reminder to “help save the planet, by reusing towels” information sticker on the wall. I am all for doing my bit. Unfortunately the hotel uses single-use body soap and shampoo squeeze packs. I had used about 3/4 of one, and housekeeping simply replaced it. The thought of the plastic waste caused by this was a little disappointing. I would urge the management to consider moving to refillable wall mounted soap dispensers.

Breakfast was satisfactory, and when charged at £17, feels fair for what it was.

The location was easy to access, and ideal for my needs. You can access any part of Cardiff with relative ease and I walked into the centre of Cardiff in about 30 minutes.

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback following your recent stay with us. We’re pleased to hear that our team’s prompt and helpful service, as well as our convenient location and free parking, were positives during your visit. It’s great to know that your replacement room provided the quiet and comfort you needed. That said, I’m sorry to learn that other aspects of your stay fell short of expectations. Your comments about the bathroom cleanliness, room condition, and climate control system are noted with great concern. We are actively working on refurbishing areas of the property, as you observed with the new carpeting, and your feedback will help us prioritize further improvements. The issue of sustainability is also an important one for us. We appreciate your suggestion regarding refillable dispensers, and I’ll ensure this is considered as part of our ongoing commitment to reducing waste. We value your honest and constructive feedback and are committed to addressing these concerns. While I regret that this visit didn’t fully meet your expectations, I hope you’ll consider giving us another chance in the future. Please feel free to reach out to me directly if you decide to return, so I can ensure your next experience is a more seamless one. Warm regards, Przemek Kaminski General Manager

Located just outside the city centre (about 25 minutes walk) near Cardiff Bay with its boutiques, restaurants and entertainment venues. The house is already a bit old.

The staff at check-in were very friendly. Parking is free for hotel guests. But when registering the license plate at the terminal, the system indicated that there was no connection to the Internet - a problem that appeared throughout the house: The wifi didn't work for a second during our stay, we were here for three days.

One of the two lifts was also defective, so using the remaining lift became a test of patience.

The room was quite spacious but gloomy, everything a bit old-fashioned in brown and beige - wall, carpet, furniture... The toilet is well hidden, because when you opened the door to the bathroom you automatically closed the access to the toilet. It took us a moment to figure that out.

It has a Dolce Gusto coffee machine and an in-room kettle. However, the used coffee capsules have not been replaced, which is a shame.

The TV has very few channels and some radio programs - even common TV channels do not run.

In the shower there were big problems with the warm water, it was pure coincidence whether warm water came or not. You turned and pressed and tasted, eventually it worked - that was extremely tedious, especially when standing naked in the bathtub. With shower curtain in the back, because there is no shower cubicle.

The breakfast buffet is average at best. It offers the classic elements of an English breakfast, but in unappealing quality. The selection of other dishes such as cereal, cheese or cold cuts is very small.

For coffee, all guests must attend a(!) Turn on the machine, which can lead to long lines from 8.30 am. Alternatively, there is a pitcher with filter coffee next to it.

All in all, the hotel is a disappointment rather than a highlight. But if you want to be close to Cardiff Bay and don’t have high standards, you’re sure to be in good hands here.

I ended up staying at this hotel as part of a ticket/hotel package when I booked to see Billy Joel's one-date tour in all of Europe. I hadn't actually heard of a Future Inn before but I absolutely wouldn't hesitate to stay at one again.

The hotel is easy to get to from Cardiff Central train station. I ended up walking as it was a nice day and it took just under half an hour so a taxi ride is very quick. From the moment I arrived at the hotel, the staff were wonderful. Every single staff member I encountered during my stay was pleasant and helpful. The hotel is really nice and my room was really lovely. Everything was really clean and the bed was really comfortable.

The restaurant is quite small and I didn't eat at this for an evening meal so I can't comment on it, but it is the location for breakfast in the morning. As it can get quite busy, rather than standing in a queue and waiting for a table to become available, the lady seating everyone had you sit in the lounge part and just move along, so it was quite refreshing to have a queuing system where you could sit down, relax, and grab a drink while you wait. It was so well organised and it wasn't long before I was seated. Breakfast was well stocked and tasty.

If I had any thing to fault at all - and I would really have to be picky - it would be that the hotel room doors are very thick fire doors, which is wonderful for safety but not so great for heaviness. They are quite heavy to push open and make a real bang when shutting. From my point of view, this was not a problem as I have respect for other guests and don't just let the door bang close but hold it until it closes, however, you can't account for other people and there were many just letting their doors slam. This is honestly hardly a concern though.

I would highly recommend this hotel and feel quite lucky that I ended up staying here for such a great occasion.

My hubby and I stayed in the year 2021 for 8 days. Although we encountered a few minor niggles, on the whole it was quite enjoyable. However, as returning guests on August 27th-29th this year, we were very much disappointed. Apart from Free parking which is a plus for the guests, we were quite shocked at how the standard of rooms had gone down hill. We are pensioners and struggle like most. Having paid out £290.70 for two nights, we expected the room to be tip top. According to our room details, we were to have free slippers and bathrobes. These were not provided. We also had 1 sanitary plastic bag, 3 tissues left in the box and a quarter of a toilet roll along with a new one provided. The toilet seat moved when we sat on it and had very loose hinges. The very un hygienic plastic bath curtain had seen better days. Why on earth this hotel is supposed to be a four star and doesn't have a bath screen is beyond us. We did not expect our beds to be changed, but our bins were never emptied. There was no Do not disturb sign in situ, and replenishment of milk, coffee, biccys, tea etc had to be requested from quests at the reception desk. There wasn't one usb point, so it was a good job we brought several of our own. The wardrobe ( funny shape ) a bit like a round triangle if that makes sense, is the smallest we had ever seen. The safe, ironing board and iron was crammed in, and if you stayed longer than 2 nights, you would have been pushed for space. The room was facing the main road, not the car park, and it made no difference whether or not we closed the windows, because you could still hear the noise late at night. One of the biggest problems was the wi-fi. if you had an android there was no problem connecting to hotel wi-fi, but if you have an Apple Iphone, god help you. I spoke to many guests who like my self had problems but gave up in the end and used their 4G. The hotel kept blaming Apple which was a load of rubbish, because it came on perfectly well at the local eatery. Also having stayed en route in Bristol at the Double Trees, encountering no problems what so ever. The receptionist even said that she had also had complaints with guests regarding their Apple IPhone. May I suggest that Future inn invest in a proper Wi Fi service, up date their rooms and equipment up to the standard of a four star hotel which they are most certainly not. Needless to say, we will probably not being doing a third visit.

This was one of the cheaper options at the time of booking, and whilst the location is a little awkward (it was about 40 minutes walk from the centre, and 45 mins from the ice arena we went to watch the ice hockey at), it had ample parking which was lacking at many of the other hotels we looked at.

The staff were relatively friendly and the hotel was clean and everywhere felt very spacious. The rooms were nice if a little dated in decor, and the beds surprisingly comfy. My only issues with the stay was the some of the rooms on the same floors doors being really loud when they were closed late at night, other than that I’d probably stay here again!

Room was very spacious, well appointed clean and mostly comfortable - the air-conditioning simply made noise and did not provide any cool air. Only one lift - for such a hotel this was a bit of a shocker. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast room was spacious, clean and pleasant. Breakfast was decent but as is often the case the food (buffet) could have been hotter. A little disappointed with the selection of bread: basic sliced brown or basic sliced white only.

We only stayed for one night, so we have limited experience of the services offered. One improvement that is needed, especially if aiming at the business market, is to fit USB ports. There are loads of double socket so this would only cost a couple of pounds per room. Other than this, the room was pretty good, other than the TV, which only had about ten chanels please just use Freeview rather than a impracticle network connection. We did not eat at the hotel as it was very expensive with few options. Breakfast was also too much at £15 per person so we skipped that too..

I stay here last year lovely stay.
Unfortunately this year very poor.

1) WI-FI doesn’t work check with other guests they couldn’t log on.
2) pillows thin and uncomfortable. Asked reception for more pillows they were going to send some up never came.
3)1x soap and 1x shampoo little sachets more than 1 person staying.
4) food ok not a good selection especially continental basic cereal 1x selection of croissants 3x cereals.

Cook breakfast nice. Drinks lovely.

The Room was clean just unfortunate there more to a stay than a clean room. When you go away for a break and de stress that’s what you want to pay for. Sorry poor experience.

I came back this year as I loved my stay relaxing last year unfortunately in my eyes the hotel has gone down hill Sorry to say I had to give a bad review paying over £160 for a night not worth it

Great position for visiting Cardiff and Cardiff bay.We came by train and got a taxi ride in from station (you can get a bus ) but the fact there was free parking must be an added bonus for drivers. We had a suite which was nice and clean and a comfortable bed ,TV in each room,a small fridge, fruit and a bottle of Spumante water and tea making facilities note :-A couple of herb of fruit tea would be perfect in room as not everyone wants tea or coffee and when we asked at reception if we could have a couple of mint teabags we were directed to the bar where they wanted to charge us 6 pounds for 2 herb tea bags to take up to our room ,we declined. The breakfast was adequate and quite alot on offer for us on a plant based diet with oat milk and fresh fruit salad provided which was welcome Very near to the Red Dragon center or about a 10 minute walk to Cardiff bay with various eateries and attractions,we had a great night at the Everyman cinema and visited the beautiful Norwegian Chapel. Reception staff very friendly and helpful letting us leave our luggage on the last day whilst we went off for an hour or two and ordering us a Taxi back to station. This hotel does have a corporate feel to it so might look around for something abit more characterful for next time.

Great location only 5 minute walk from the Marina and the Millennium Centre.

Lots of parking.

Booked a suite and it was a good size with 2 genuinely separate rooms.

Loads of restaurants all within a 5 minute walk.

Friendly staff

Very big bed, but the bedding really was not big enough.

Not so good was the colour of the furniture, muddy brown/beige which just makes it look dirty. Room had power points but not vey accessible. Bath had a shower over this and a shower curtain - shower curtains are never that welcoming a prospect, even more so when they start to move in and touch you whilst showering.

Breakfast a bit chaotic with coffee machines and toaster being real pinch points and access to the buffet being very narrow. Fried egg was cold which is not appealing.

Overall this felt like a bit American chain hotel that relies on high volume of one night stays and not repeat business.
