Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I’m a member of the hotel, specifically to use the sauna. The cleanliness of the locker rooms is appalling. After I have a shower in the changing rooms, I have one when I get home as I genuinely feel dirty. The floors are filthy, showers are filthy, toilets are filthy. You go in to the sauna and there’s grime and dirt which have been there for months, clearly showing signs that it never gets cleaned. It’s absolutely shocking, and I’m surprised health and safety of higher management haven’t come in and had a word, or even shut it down. In all fairness, what would I expect, I’ve never once seen anybody clean anything, ever. If I was a paying hotel guest, away on a trip/ vacation and I thought I’d go relax in there I would be absolutely mortified. You guys really need to do better. I will raise this as a complaint, I don’t anything will get done though

I booked myself a spa day as treat and it was the first spa day I have ever had. I am extremely happy with the treatment and experience I had and will definitely be booking again!. The hotel is very easy to access and it's very clean and pleasant when you walk in. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. I was allowed to use the other facilities before my treatment, The spa area was cleaning, peaceful and relaxing. Again the staff were extremely kind and helpful and the lady who done my massage was very professional and kind. The main thing I would note is that the pool, sauna and jacuzzi is not exclusive to the spa users and members of the public can also use it. Therefore it start to get a bit loud and busy as the day went on. Another thing to note was that during my massage treatment there seemed to be a drilling sound quite close and quite loud to my room, it lasted for around 10 mins(of a 25 min treatment). So I can only assume there was some building work going on in the hotel or a building next to it. But again, I will definitely book again!

On arrival check-in staff were very welcoming to myself and my 6yr old. He thoroughly enjoyed use of pool and all staff we met were accommodating and friendly. Room was lovely and spacious, clean and well equipped for our 2 night stay. Central to everything we intended to explore in Cardiff. 6yr old has asked if we can go and stay there again...I agree!

Central hotel less than a 10 minute walk from Queen Street.I received an email before arriving requesting me to check in so just had to collect the keycard on arrival.Really easy process and reception staff were lovely.Room was very well equipped, clean and roomy with toiletries provided. We stayed in room 1108 and had an amazing view of Cardiff Bay.We sat in the chairs provided to soak up the view.Didn’t eat at the hotel but used the bar which had a nice ambiance.Travelled with 2 large saloon cars -checked with hotel before arrival and was advised that the hotel only has 70 car parking places under the hotel and that the hotel was busy being a bank holiday weekend so prebooked an alternative just round the corner from the hotel with Your Parking Space.Would definitely stay here again.

Firstly the hotel entrance , lobby and bar are great and look really modern . The check in opens at 3pm . That's where everyone queued which took over 45 mins a very slow process Self check in would solve this The rooms are dated , not much soundproofing and could hear a lot of guests most of the night . No idea how to get heat into the room Tried the air con , no manual or instructions. So we were freezing all night . Tried to phone reception. Phone is disconnected. Lack of staff here and no management to be seen Used the sauna pool and jacuzzi as part of my package . The next morning I was informed I neeed to pay £10 to enter . New regulations apparently. Failed to inform me at check in I would never stay here again

Only one towel for two people. Used hotel WhatsApp system to request some, still waiting for response. No water or glasses in room. No parking despite paying £21…. And more importantly a staff member (mercure card on dashboard) was parked in one of the two Disabled Bays by the door meaning a genuine disabled guest could not park. £25 for the dog to sleep in his own bed on the floor, as additional cost. Why exactly? Room dated. Only one lift working. No one on Reception. Nope…. Not going to recommend or come here again. Not a happy camper.

Staff on reception in restaurant and bar, were great, even got a bowl of water for my dogs. In the room could have done with a bowl for the dogs and some bottles of water, also no hairdryer. No view from our room either. But i would still come again

Inedible overpriced food and terrible attitudes. We stayed for 2 nights for a large function which was well managed. However, on the first evening in the restaurant the meals were cold. They were returned cold with hot gravy poured all over them. The cheesecake dessert had a black hair in it and I received a shoulder shrug from the manager who said it wasn't his but to inform reception which I did. Here I was informed by a very rude sarcastic lady that if I still felt annoyed in the morning to tell reception??? We had a bed, breakfast and dinner package so ordered breakfast to the room.....that cost extra £10. The small plates of salami were missing just had 3 slices of curled up plastic cheese, no coffee pot just a cup with a saucer on top that had spilt, no milk jug just small spirit glass for both beverages and cereal. The cooked breakfast was cold and the "toast" was thin slices of stale bread. The cleaner left new towels but did not make the bed or clean. Later that evening we ordered from the menu for delivery...rack of ribs with a squirt of sauce o top, side of chips was tiny, chicken with serrano ham and no saute potatoes which when they did arrive where like hard deep fried tiddlywinks....and yes all cold. This meal plus a bottle of pinot was £88 plus £10 room charge. Couldn't face the breakfast the following morning so instead of taking advantage of our late check out which was extra we left. The parking is £20 /night but as it is only about 40ish spaces it took 8 drive arounds before we found a space. A lovely receptionist called Laura helped us with my husbands oxygen equipment and our air conditioning and this was the only positive about this stay. Nothing was too much trouble for her. The only meals consumed were those during the function. Never again
