Manor Parc Country Hotel is nestled in a picturesque location that has won the hearts of many guests, particularly when paired with services like the afternoon tea. The hotel's traditional setting exudes beauty, but the atmosphere is occasionally marred by reports of poor service and perceived overpricing. Room opinions are divided, with praise for their comfort and cleanliness but criticism for some being outdated and cramped. While the service is often described as attentive, instances of unprofessionalism have been noted. Cleanliness is a standout feature, with travelers consistently commending the pristine condition of the hotel. Amenities generally receive positive remarks, though some guests feel breakfast times could be more accommodating.

12 members of my family had Sunday lunch here for a birthday celebration and it was 1st class. The beautiful way the table was laid with attention to detail. Crisp white linen and a gorgeous bright room with windows. The staff were dressed immaculate and were extremely helpful. The service was incredible and thanks to the faultless staff all of our party ate at the same time and we were a large party. The food was served to each plate in the most amazing silver service fashion and was piping hot. The dessert trolley on wheels is a stunning feature and did not disappoint. The staff sang Happy Birthday and made sure everything was perfect. A beautiful venue with the most amazing staff to credit it. We sat on the terrace and enjoyed drinks till the late afternoon it was stunning. If your looking for a Sunday lunch with a touch of glamour this is the place for you. A stunning place to entertain your family and friends for special occasions. The staff are extraordinary friendly and helpful and Mario was amazing . Definitely need to visit if you haven't already been. Its a stunning afternoon out.

Very comfortable rooms and the staff looked after all guests at a reception we attended very attentively. The breakfast however was another story. The breakfast was served in a large room and we were told to sit with the only two other guests that were down at that time, we decline. There was a quite obvious smell of burnt toast in the air considering it was a large room. The one member of staff after seating us then vanished for what seemed like an eternity before returning and taking our order. Having said that the breakfast itself was delicious and very well cooked.

Hello Brian, at breakfast, we tend to sit guests that attended the same event the day before, at the same table. We sincerely apologise if you felt uncomfortable in sharing a table with the same people that attended the same event. We would never ask you to sit with complete strangers, hence why every table at breakfast is marked with the room number. The smell of burnt toast might have been that someone( the other 2 guests) may have accidentally burnt a piece of bread, which by all accounts it is not unusual at breakfast time, or that it might have been an onset of a stroke, however, we are delighted it wasn't the latter otherwise we wouldn't be replying to this review. Our breakfast times are only 2hours and 30 minutes long, so how would you quantify an eternity? It took me an eternity ( less than 5 minutes ) to write this reply . Regards

We held my Father’s celebration of life reception at the Manor Parc Hotel on the 21st of October. The service we were given from initially booking the venue, right through to the reception itself was nothing more than exceptional. We as a family cannot thank Vicki, Mario and the rest of the team enough for their help and advice in arranging a great sendoff for my Father.

Some of the family opted to stay before and after the funeral at the hotel. The hotel rooms were clean, inviting and well maintained. The breakfast and evening meals were flavourful, substantial and thoroughly enjoyed,

You may read some negative reviews with regard to the 3 hour limit of the reception. When you make your booking, Vicki/Mario are very clear about the terms and conditions. Every question I had was answered quickly and every detail about the layout, food, room etc was articulated so it was easily understood. It’s a family run business, so negative reviews can have a detrimental impact. All I can say is that the way my mother was treated as she was shown around was nothing more than exceptional. They understood it was a difficult time for her and let her know that they would look after the family on the day with compassion and understanding.

The celebration itself was perfect from the moment we arrived, the inviting room, the food and the professionalism of the staff. I would highly recommend the Manor Parc Hotel, we went to two other venues and they felt cold and corporate the way they engaged with us. The Manor Parc gave us that sense of family and they truly understood our needs. Definitely would give more than 5 stars if it were an option.

We made a booking to hire a room at the hotel for approximately 40 guests following a funeral ceremony at Thornhill Crematorium. While the location was convenient and the service at the crematorium was lovely, we were deeply disappointed with our experience from the moment we arrived at the hotel.

Prior to the event, we received confirmation that we would have a three-hour booking and were assured that we could arrive earlier if the ceremony finished ahead of schedule. However, upon arrival (approx 10/15 mins early), instead of receiving a warm welcome, we were met with a rather cold and unprofessional greeting from the manager: “You’re too early, we still have things to sort out.” Given the sensitive nature of the occasion, a simple "hello" or a more compassionate reception would have been much more appropriate.

Despite this rocky start, our guests eventually settled into the room, and I must say that the food service was satisfactory. Although it was a typical English tea-style service, the quality was good, and guests seemed content. Many of our attendees were happy to reconnect and catch up in small groups, especially since several had traveled considerable distances—some from other parts of the country, and others from abroad—to be present at this occasion.

Unfortunately, the service and hospitality took another downturn as we neared the end of our three-hour booking. We were informed that there would be no further service, including drinks from the bar or even a simple cup of tea. Moreover, we were told that only resident guests would be allowed to continue socialising in a separate room, while all non-resident guests would have to leave. This was disappointing, as we had several family members staying at the hotel, and it left only about six guests needing to find somewhere else to go.

When we approached the staff, including both managers, to inquire about the possibility of extending our time, they were abrupt and repeatedly reminded us that our booking was only for three hours and no extension had been arranged. When we asked if there were any extension options, they bluntly informed us that they offered no such thing—three hours was the maximum allowed. Given that many of our guests had traveled hundreds of miles to be with us on this solemn occasion, we were shocked that there was no flexibility or understanding shown by the hotel staff. Instead, we were forced to consider organising taxis to take us to another venue a mile away, which further soured the day for us and something we eventually decided against.

At this point, we were ready to leave, feeling entirely unwelcome and as though the hotel staff were simply waiting for us to vacate the premises. The lack of warmth, care, and hospitality was striking, especially considering the nature of our gathering. What should have been an opportunity for family and friends to come together in a supportive environment was instead marred by the hotel's rigid attitude and dismissive service.

We will never return to this venue, and I strongly encourage others to consider alternative options when planning similar occasions. It was clear to us that customer service is not a priority for this hotel, and they offer little more than the bare minimum in terms of hospitality and care for their guests.

Good afternoon Mr Cullen Thank you for the lengthy review. We are glad you are pointing out that our Celebration of Life is only 3 hours long. The person that booked the function was well aware of it when she agreed to the terms & conditions, so we are not quite sure why you are ranting about the length of time, however, for those who are reading this response it is only fair to hear our side of the story too: The party arrived 1 hour earlier than estimated on booking and left one hour after the three hour slot, so that makes it 5 hours , yet you think it is within your right to complaint ; the staff was left feeling anxious due to your persistent asking for more drinks and questioning every reply as you clearly were not taking a no for an answer. If you really cared about those who had travelled hundreds of miles to the funeral, you could have invited them back to your house perhaps? or a pub down the road? or a restaurant nearby? You clearly had complete disregard towards our restaurant and bar staff finishing time as you thought you could drag the Celebration of Life for as long as you wanted. Just because you don't get it your way, it doesn't mean that the other person is wrong or unprofessional or abrupt. Most Celebration of Life held here at Manor Parc, are for gatherings to celebrate the passing of loved ones and are very much done and dusted within the three hours. Those who want to spend all day and night drinking away, they are asked to book a different venue that cater for such needs. We too hope not to see you again in our premises, however, due to our popularity with Celebration of Life , you may , reluctantly have to return. All the best The Manor Parc restaurant staff.

Not one for writing reviews normally but here goes.

Stayed here on the 19th September for our 30th wedding anniversary. We got married here 30 years previously so I was hoping for it to be a bit special for the wife.

Unfortunately it also turned out to be the Queens funeral and maybe that's why the service was so poor, but I'll let them make that excuse for themselves and I booked it about 6 weeks in advance so who was to know!

I'll start with the good points, the room itself was lovely, very big, the evening meal was of a good standard and the waiter was very attentive.

Bad points, on arrival at the "superior double room" we found out that it was stocked out inferiorly, 1 sachet of Nescafe instant coffee , 1 tea bag, 1 sachet of milk, 1 15ml shower gel bottle, 1 hand towel between the two us...oh , no water in the room either. Yes, when we did ask for it they popped up and brought us what we wanted...... but when you pay £160 for a room for the night you expect the housekeeping to be spot on!.

What you don't expect is for the water that they sent to the room to be added to be the final invoice, that's just bad practice and makes people think they're being ripped off.

I did ask the woman on reception in the morning to reimburse my card for the cost of the water, but when checking my bank account later that day it was clear that she hadn't .... again, I just hate being ripped off.

We've travelled extensively all over the world and stayed in some really bad and some lovely hotels that deliver good service, this experience was nothing like good service, what made it even worse though was that when I did email my concerns the email reply I had was just completely lacklustre and felt like a " I don't really give a damn what you think" kind of reply.

With it being our 30th anniversary I wanted it to be memorable for the right reasons, I almost didn't write this and if it wasn't for the attitude of the reply I wouldn't have.

I'm pretty sure I won't be booking here again and discouraging friends and family to ever booking here.

Good evening Mr Davies Thank you for taking the time to write this review. It is common practice for any reasonable person that celebrates an important milestone such as your 30 years of marriage, that the effort to "make it special" should not be a task to be undertaken by the establishment in which you decide to celebrate. Prior to booking the accommodation with ourselves, you asked for a discount simply due to the fact that you work in the emergency services, which we politely declined . If you wanted to make it special at our expenses, we are sorry to inform you that you chose the wrong establishment. The water from the tap is potable and if guests prefer bottled mineral water, it can be purchased at the bar. We apologise profusely for not having an infinite amount of tea bags or coffee sachets, it must have been rather difficult to ask for more which were promptly delivered to your room. We are sorry to say this review was born out of your delusion of thinking we would be rolling the red carpet and give you complimentary items ( champagne & chocolates perhaps , a balloon or rose petals and scented candles in the bathroom...) so that you could have a memorable evening at our expense. Please note, a refund usually takes 4 working days to show in your account , so please rest assured we did not ( as you claim) rip you off. We have never seen you here since you got married 30 years ago and we are delighted you won't be booking with us again. Kind regards The Manor Parc Hotel

Celebration of life buffet was excellent, warm items were warm, sandwiches were well filled, scones were warm and everything was tasty and well presented. Plenty of tea and coffee a member of staff at hand to deal with anything such as a pot of decaf tea or additional fresh coffee. Private room all clean and tidy. Dealing in telephone and email was efficient and caring everything as discussed. Highly recommend.

I am deeply disappointed by the appalling service and lack of compassion shown by the staff at this hotel during my Nan's wake. After a heart-wrenching funeral, we expected a respectful environment, but instead, we were met with rudeness and outrageous prices for food and drinks. To make matters worse, no one offered assistance to my sister, who was struggling to get her baby’s buggy upstairs — not a single staff member offered to help.

After only three hours, the staff began kicking out half of our family, despite the fact that some had traveled from abroad to be with us during this difficult time. They even refused to serve drinks until all non-guests had left, which made it an even more distressing experience.

For a place that should understand how to handle sensitive events like wakes, the treatment we received was cold, unprofessional, and heartless. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for respectful service in their time of need.

We stay in Cardiff on a regular basis to meet our elderly father. Usually we stay in a neighbouring hotel about half a mile away. Due to our usual hotel providing, on this occasion, a very questionable modus operandi surrounding pricing, we decided to give the Manor Parc Hotel a try. How fortunate we were in taking this decision! Manor Parc Hotel is family owned by Mario and his wife, a wonderful couple whose attention to detail is second to none! The premises is spotlessly clean with manicured grounds. Breakfast and evening meals are wonderful. In all, the staff could not do enough to make our stay comfortable and hassle free. I can recommend this establishment to all. You won't be disappointed! We will without fail return.

Attended a wedding which went very well and the staff were amazing and worked very hard to make everything run smoothly. However the accommodation massively let the day down. We had to book the room months in advance and had to pay £150 (in advance) to secure the room. I was told under no circumstances would a refund be available. We were put in room 17 and I don’t think we have stayed in a more basic, cramped and miserable room. To add to the joy we were woken several times in the early hours by smokers gathering outside below the room. All in all hugely disappointing accommodation and under no circumstances would I book to stay there again.
