Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Terrible, in great need of a revamp, tatty and noisy. Bed is comfy if you can get any sleep due to the lack of quietness. Breakfast, which should be hot was luke warm, such a downward slide in two years. I doubt that I will stay here again which is a pity as it is ideally located at the top of town near the Castle.

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights which was a lovely stay. The hotel is in a great city centre location. There is a car park but with limited spaces £15 per day . The hotel is clean but tired and needs some attention. The staff were all welcoming , friendly and professional . The breakfast is buffet style but of a good quality for a buffet breakfast . The bed was comfy & the hotel was lovely and warm . We were able to hear noise from the room next door quite easily. There was a hairdryer in the room but it wasn’t good at all.

A great but a little tired hotel. Stayed at the hotel for Rugby International. Situated right by the stadium but also a short distance from the bars, restaurants and shops. Rooms are roomy but a little tired. Could do with modernization such as sockets by beds. Will defo use again.

Came for hospitality package at the Wales / Scotland rugby match. Really well run event with good meal before and curry buffet afterwards. The Cardiff Arm Park Men’s choir singing on the big staircase was fabulous. Big shout out to Ashley who ran the lunch and dinner fantastically.

Don't be fooled by the very nice reception and staircase! This is the most outdated hotel room I've ever stayed in. Bathroom was rusty, couldn't open the windows OR turn the radiators off, I couldn't sleep all night because of this. I get it's cold outside by I should be able to control the temp of my room. What made us really uncomfortable though was the 2 inch gap underneath our door? I could literally fit my entire arm under it, So everyone could literally hear everything, I felt like I was in a bathroom stall! It was a 2 night stay but we left at 10pm after our first night as we just couldn't stick it. Explained to the lady at the front desk that I was checking out now and she first said 'no you can check out tomorrow morning' like what??? I said I'm leaving now I have a family emergency, then tried telling me we had £40 on our account to owe, the hotel was a booking through buyagift and we had breakfast lunch and dinner out so I said well there shouldn't be any money to owe and she still tried getting me to stay, obviously thought I was trying to do a runner which is just rude ! I eventually just left as we then had to run for 10 minutes so we didn't miss our last train home. Entrance is also full of people working on their laptops looking down their nose at you like youre filth. 1 man even laughed at us when we walked in with food in a bag to eat in our room. Never again.

Beautiful entrance as you walk in, and the room (130) was cosy and did the job just fine. Staff very helpful and friendly. Beds very comfortable and the shower was great! Only downsides were the veggie sausages at breakfast and the noise from outside, but it was Saturday in a busy city centre, so that's to be expected when you book. Very close to everything we needed, so an ideal place to stay for a very good price.

My wife took me to Cardiff to celebrate my 70th birthday. We stayed at the Angel Hotel on a bed and breakfast basis. The hotel was very central and our room overlooked the castle. It was very clean and tidy providing all the facilities we needed ( tea, coffee, biscuits, Wi-Fi etc). The breakfast let it down a little. It was a buffet but some of the food had stood for a while. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would stay again.
