Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This hotel has quaint features, and I love that there is laminate not carpet. However, the cleanliness isn't up to snuff. Mirrors surfaces and remotes are covered in grime which made me feel uneasy. General cleanliness seems OK. Rooms are also unusual shapes

Hotel's Favourite
This was probably one of my favourite hotels to date. Firstly, I was a solo, female traveller for work and was made to feel very safe by the hotel setting within an arcade. I arrived early and the lovely receptionist looked to see if a room was available (not expected but always very grateful when they say yes!) and there was one. I went to University in Cardiff 20 odd years ago and was keen to get out exploring old haunts! The room was exceptional, large, spotlessly clean, a push button shower with great water pressure, comfy bed, lovely pillows and duvet, great Welsh coffee, good brand of hairdryer- I can go on and on! My room was really quiet too. This was booked through my work but the price for a 4 star hotel was amazing- will be back for leisure purposes and will 100% book here. Staff at breakfast were wonderfully friendly and the coffee and poached eggs were perfect. All in all I could not fault this place if I wanted to! Everything a hotel should be.

Hello Andrea2978, What a charming review of our little boutique hotel. Our aim is and has always been to provide something a bit different to other hotels and we want every guest to experience our charm and quirks whenever they visit, and most of all, our exception Welsh hospitality for which we are known. We really hope you will look to return again so you can explore more of the city and create some more nostalgia for yourself. Once again another fantastic stay . As we walked in we were greeted by a super friendly reception (didn’t catch her name) 🙁 who informed us that we had been upgraded to a superior room as it was our wedding anniversary. Room was gorgeous, immaculately clean. There were 2 slices of chocolate cake and strawberries left for us and the fridge had some wine, beer and savoury treats for us to enjoy. We were also give. A voucher for a drink of choice at the bar. By far one of the best hotels I. Cardiff for the price and service. We’ll done Indigo!

What the actual fu*k . No lifts working so total rabbit warren. You have to walk miles , I’m not joking . We then get told bar closing at 10 as it’s not busy , normally 11, yes but we’re here and we paid to stay here , so serve us . ‘It’s not worth my while’ Absolute joke. However , location is incredible. Very very disappointed for £450 for 2 nights.

I stayed at the Hotel Indigo with my mum for a night mid-week to explore Cardiff. The service was absolutely incredible; all the staff were absolutely lovely, so friendly and incredibly helpful. The breakfast and room were both unbelievable for the price we paid, the eggs benedict was one of the best hotel breakfasts I think I've ever had. Excellent location right on the high street and just minutes away from Cardiff Castle. Lovely room, great facilities and incredibly comfortable bed. After checkout they looked after our bags and provided us an umbrella for the rain. Couldn't fault the hotel or staff at all, will definitely be coming again if staying in Cardiff.

Lots of good things about this hotel: friendly and helpful reception staff, who made a couple of great recommendations for eating and drinking places. The location is perfect as it’s so central, barely a 3 minute walk to the Castle and the shopping arcades, and parking in the NCP car park behind the hotel is easy. The room was spacious and clean, lovely comfortable bed and awesome shower. The provided toiletries were lovely. We appreciated the provided bottled water and used the coffee machine. A couple of small things that stopped this from being a 5 bubble review: the lift in our building was broken, which meant using the lifts to the (top) fourth floor on the adjoining building and then walking along several corridor to reach the stairs in our building to access our room on the fifth floor. If you were using the restaurant or bar then it was another floor up by stairs on the sixth floor. For us it wasn’t too much of an issue and we actually only did the slog between the lift and room on arrival and departure (with the baggage) and we climbed/ descended the five flights for the rest of the weekend. We did notice a couple of more elderly guests struggling with the stairs up to the restaurant level. In the room there was only one bathrobe which was a bit odd for two guests (there were two pairs of slippers). Also only one facecloth in the bathroom, which wasn’t replaced after the first day. And one sanitary bag which also wasn’t replaced after the first day, not ideal when there’s no bin liners in the bins and you have lady guests. The provided milk sachets for teas and coffees were quite sticky, as if something had been spilt over them. But overall we would stay again.

My husband, daughter and I had a great stay. The room was clean and tidy and very spacious. The hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming. We had breakfast in the morning and there was a lot of choice and great selection. My only negative were the beds. They were far too soft and I could not get comfortable. That is not a reflection on the hotel but of my preference as My husband loved the soft mattress and had a great sleep. If you are also someone that struggles with a soft mattress it may not be for you. I would definitely stay again as it was a great hotel for me and the family.

Very friendly staff, well located and fun vibe. We had arrived after a 36 hour journey from Sydney Australia and the check in with Maya was about the friendliest and most welcoming I have ever experienced. Definitely recommend it for a weekend in Cardiff.

We stayed here in the Indigo hotel recently for an overnight stay, and the hotel is nice and in a great location for Cardiff city centre. We've stayed here before, and we had a lovely room with a miner's theme last time, but this time we were up in one of the eaves rooms, and the only windows we had were 2 small skylights, so it was a dark room, however it was ok for just one night. The room was clean, but just a small complaint, we did find a rolled up pair of socks under the rocking chair which weren't ours, so the room clearly hadn't been swept or hoovered thoroughly. The young man on the reception desk who checked us in was very friendly. The restaurant staff were ok, the breakfast was reasonably priced, and was nice enough.

Shwmae Somerset_Belles, Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback - we are so sorry to hear that we did not quite manage perfection on this occasion. We will of course liaise with housekeeping to identify why this was able to occur and ensure we improve going forward. I hope you choose to visit us again so we can live up to our 5* stay standards once more! Kind Regards, Team Indigo
