Spotless rooms, helpful and friendly staff, close to bus stops, the interconnecting rooms a massive bonus, really happy.
Avoid the adjacent Brewer's Fayre if you can. Breakfast staff really lovely and the cooked to order breakfast tasted fresh. Costa coffee and Twinings Breakfast tea, Yeo Valley yogurt - suits us. Seemed to be a different venue for evening service - would not recommend at all - revolting food and felt like service in a grotty pub; tables uncleared etc! My ratings below are for Premier Inn ONLY, not the Brewer's Fayre.

The minute I walked through the doors the building smelt clean and fresh! The one way system and screens look a bit weird, but we had the same amazing service you would ever expect from one of these chains! We kinda forgot they were there for a second. we were dreading the fact we were in the older side but you’d never tell, the room was spotless! Just what you want atm. It smelt clean and fresh. We wanted some teas and coffees, we called reception they left it at the door sealed in a bag, knocked and stepped back, the way this team have adapted was amazing and I won’t hesitate using premier inn again if they are all like this. We were understandably worried about using any hotel but it felt just as clean as our own home. Walking out in the morning and seeing the manager cleaning all the door handles and stairs, he seen us apologised asked us to wait a second, he opened a door walked in and apologised and wished us a great day. From start to finish it was just lovely! Thank you.

Always difficult reviewing Premier Inns as they are very much all alike, you know you will get a comfy bed and every room is the same! The meal deal can be good value, but again it’s all very familiar. Staff are always polite and friendly. If you can get the cheaper night deals they represent decent value, at there full rates they are expensive compared to some very nice independent hotels.
Cannot rate the service as I only collected my key card ! And that went without a hitch 😊

we stayed at your branch as it was my birthday , we dropped out daughter back to bristol and then came back as we were staying in another branch before hand for 2 days in bridgend which was lovely . so we came to your site on the 23/07/2022 at 3:20 at the check in time , we dropped of our bags and headed down for some food ect at around 5:30pm . once we came back from the meal my partner and myself were so tired due to all the revaeling from bristol - wales and then back again in one day . we needed showers as you could expect , so i had my shower first which was in the wet room i didnt even have enough time to wash any shampoo out of my hair before the shower started literaly over flowing !! i still had shampoo in my hair the pictures have already been sent across to you this was in room 2005 , this email was sent on saturday evening ,so i went straight down to the front desk ! they came up checked how the shower was and they said in there own words " ughhhh this keeps hapening in this room " . they had no plunger so came back with around 10 towels as well as every towel in my room being used so we infact only had 1 towel to share to wash our faces in the sink ! it was the most horrible way for my birthday to end i infact have never had a hotel this bad ! and the customer service staff saying oh there is nowere else we can put you were fully booked ! so how was my partner meant to shower there was so resolution for him after we had been traveling all day and i had shampoo still in my hair !

then we just get given two free breakfast vouchers like that would solve our issues of having no shower or anything to clean ourselves !! this was horrific to say the least !
you could have given us a place to shower !

your attitudes could have used alot more work !

given it was my birthday there was nothing you could do to make us feel better about the stay after how bad it was !

and when we checked out the service my god we didnt even get asked about our stay when ryan the man on the shift on my birthday said she will be on the front desk in the morning to advise you what to do next ! there was clearly a lack of compassion as well as no coms between your staff .

brekafast vouchers were not going to clear a situation up !

you left aswell towels around 13 which i have picturs of on the floor at 12am which was a massive health & saftey risk we could have fell in the middle of the night , no mop and bucket was brought up either it was just a horrible stay from s

Stayed here the second week and third in a three week work trip after being transferred from the other nearby premier inn. The service here from the receptionist and staff in general is amazing. Nothing is too much for them and they are very cheerful and polite. Jon the receptionist was exceptional and even noticed that I was drinking green tea in the restaurant at breakfast and asked if I needed some for my room. Can’t fault it here would recommend to anyone. Thank god for the service here as had a awful experience at the other one.

We have just come back from a weekend visit to my daughters and used Premier Inn for the stay. I've had some good experiences with Premier in the past and the location was what we needed for proximity to the visit. There few pointers I have from this weekend are listed below and hope Premier take note. Consider your guests and where you are accommodating them. We booked 2 months in advance with a child under 2 and were put on the top floor of the building in the furthest rooms. It isn't conducive to good stay when you're carting the various things needed for a toddler up and down stairs constantly, Pushchair for example whilst trying to ensure your child/ grandchild doesn't run off. Not a great advert for health and safety. Yet the family before us when checking in who had, it seemed not booked in advance were given ground floor rooms. The wifi didn't reach the hotel rooms we were in which again caused issues with keeping the infant entertained. The air conditioning sounded like a jet engine but the effective output was like an asthmatic blowing through a straw, under water. The rooms were ok but looked a bit dated and tired. There were not enough hangers for clothes and not enough towels for more than one person which is never going to be enough for a family trip. The usual issues with breakfast. Premier inn never puts enough staff on at breakfast which resulted in basic standards nowhere near being met on busy mornings. No plates, No bowls, no glasses, no spoons and mostly no food. We pay £9.99 per person to have a breakfast choice and to be fair you'd be hard pressed to have seen £9.99 worth of food for the entire restaurant. The limited staff were trying their best but had no chance. This was the same for 2 of the 3 days we stayed. Overall the restful, relaxing trip we were hoping for to see our daughter never really materialised and will probably result in us seeking alternative accommodation on our next visit.

This was an overnight stop on a cycle tour so the comfortable beds and on-site restaurant were just what we needed. Close to National Cycle Network Route 4 and mid way between Bristol and Llanelli, it was the perfect location. I can't wait for self-service breakfast to be back on the menu.

We were visiting friends in the area and choose to stay nearby at the premier inn, we have used many premier IBM’s before and always choose them for their quality, friendliness and affordability. As a family of 5 we need two rooms now the children are older and this was still a good price. We had a brilliant stay. The staff went above and beyond and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Thank you.

We decided to visit Wales to see family and do a bit of sightseeing of Wales. Booked the Premier Inn to stay for a few nights arrived pretty late and the lady at the reception was in the back staff room, she came out when she heard our arrival but was so quick to dismiss us and return back to whatever she was doing at the back. We got to the room and we were greeted with a damp smell almost like the room had not been in use in months. We got in and we were about to settle in only to find a massive cobweb covered in dust right over the TV, the TV remote was covered with dust and the don't get me started with the mould in the bathroom. Went back to reception, asked the guy (Ryan) that was now at the reception when was the room last cleaned? He claimed it has been cleaned regularly I told him I doubt that was true, then I showed him the pictures. There was no AC but there was a table fan in the room that was covered in dust and the light fitting on the table had hole in it in place of the light switch. He did apologise and changed the fan but he couldn't change the room as they were fully booked, little to say we all woke up sneezing the next morning.

Response from Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants, Other at Premier Inn Caerphilly Crossways Hotel
Responded 25 Aug 2021
Hello, Thank you for your review. We’re very sorry that you were left disappointed by the cleanliness standards in your room and room temperature during your stay, as well as with the service from the team during your time with us. This certainly isn't the experience we would expect for our guests when staying. The safety and wellbeing of our guests and teams has always been incredibly important to us and everyone in our hotels should rightly expect a safe, clean and protected environment. The Coronavirus crisis has brought this into sharp focus, which is why we have launched a new rigorous, daily cleaning regime across all our hotels. We apologise you found your room to not be up to the high standard we would expect. Sadly, not all of our hotels include air conditioning. In hotels which don't, our teams do try to make rooms more comfortable by providing fans and thinner sheets. We apologise if this did not help during your stay. If air conditioning is important when staying with us, we would suggest looking out for air conditioning as a listed facility on the hotel's page on our website before booking. We have ensured this feedback has been logged to the Hotel Management team so that they can look into these issues with our Housekeeping teams to prevent this experience from being repeated again in the future. Again, our sincere apologies and thank you for taking the time to share your review. We hope that we can look forward to welcoming you back to one of our hotels again soon for a more enjoyable stay. Kind regards, Lauren

Hi there Machen is about a 10 minute drive from here, roughly 4 miles away. Hope that helps!

We were on our car. The Caerphilly train station is quite far away from the hotel, probably 20-30 min walk. Meaning you likely need a taxi or a Uber to get to the station even before your Cardiff train. Should be much easier to get a taxi or Uber to go directly to Cardiff.

Answer from frantinson

it's about a 20 minutes drive. if you go well in advance of concert etc there is a carpark right by the principality but locked the entry/exit about an hour prior to concert and didn't unlock till an hour after concert finished. Lots of bars an places to grab coffee close by to kill time though.
