I’ve visited Y-Fan for a few afternoon teas which are absolutely out of this world. Everything is hand made, locally sourced and nothing is bought in. All made just when you arrive. We actually live in Caerphilly but were treated to an overnight stay in their beautiful rooms. Adrian and Christine are the perfect hosts, the building has been beautifully and sympathetically restored, everything you touch and see is absolute quality from the fixtures and fittings to the shower, hot towel rail, beautiful bed linen and sumptuous fluffy towels. This really is a special place and literally within a few minutes of the town and train station along with restaurants but secluded enough to feel like you are escaping life. Breakfast is superb, with many options and all cooked fresh and from local suppliers. The cost is tremendously competitive so if you want to escape from it all, this is the place. We are back in December to celebrate a special birthday and I’m sure we won’t be disappointed. This really is something special, thanks you both xx

A nice quiet location just outside Caerphilly town which made this very quiet at night, but you need a car to get there and to access the town. There is plenty of space to park.

This is definitely a luxury B&B, and the pricing is great value for money to stay in a listed building which is just beautiful and has been fabulously restored to former glory as a labour of love.

It is worth visiting the area just to stay here!!

We were made to feel very welcome by our hosts, who greeted us in the amazing entrance hall and lounge area which was big enough to house a bar and multiple sofas and easy chairs where guests are welcome to relax.

The room was big, spotlessly clean, freshly decorated in keeping with the historic nature of the property, and with an excellent modern bathroom complete with chandelier!

Breakfast was served to the table in a stunning period dining room, with good quality food and plenty of choice.

We would highly recommend staying here.

My parents recently celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary at Y Fan.

We booked Afternoon Tea for 20 adults & 3 children, and were given exclusive use of the dinning room.

Our guests really enjoyed the variety of sandwiches and crudites. There was an excellent selection of teas and coffees including decaf options.

The palate cleanser of lemon posset or chocolate mouse was gorgeous. The variety of home made cakes provided was excellent and they even wrapped the left offers up for us to take home.

We were really impressed with how well they accommodated dietary needs and how good the children's servings were as these are often overlooked at other venues. I have food allergies and my partner is coeliac / gluten free. These were accommodated with no problems (as we notified them in advance) and the my partner received an excellent selection of home made gluten free cakes. The children's servings were slightly smaller (naturally) but still excellent.

We can't say enough about how welcoming and helpful Adrian and Christine were.

Y Fan is a stunning property, everything is of the highest quality throughout. It has every modern convenience you could wish for, but it retains all of it's character perfectly. It's in a very pretty location, and the terrace takes in some beautiful views down the valleys. The restoration is amazing, it has obviously been a labour of love. Our lovely room was huge, quiet and overlooked woodland and the bathroom was simply gorgeous, big big shower and a heated floor. The whole place is spotless, everywhere. It's ideal for exploring South Wales and we were delighted to be able to walk into Caerphilly. The little local train station is 10 mins walk and the train goes straight into Cardiff, very relaxing. Nothing was too much trouble for Christine and Adrian, and their breakfasts were excellent. We loved the delicious home made afternoon teas as well. We really cannot recommend this more highly and we can't wait to return.

We booked a couple of days here to allow us to visit the area. Didn't really have high expectations so were totally wowed when we arrived and saw even at the late hour we arrived, how beautiful the building was. Warmly welcomed by Adrian and Chris we were showed to our room The Green Lady. Throughout the house the attention to detail is exceptional. Its not often i can say were are impressed by Radiators, and even door hinges, but here they just added to the ambiance of the interior.
We briefly unpacked and joined our hosts and a few other guests in the lounge and thoroughly enjoyed the interaction with everyone and learning the history of the Manor. We eventually went back to our room at around 11.45pm which just shows how the conversation, and drinks flowed. By light of day the exterior of the building along with a good look around the interior continued to impress. Breakfast was beautiful and in summary we are already planning our next stay. This is a fantastic place to stay to explore this area and would highly recommend both the place and the hosts.

We visited Y Fan for Afternoon Tea at the beginning of August. The setting is stunning with a regal feel in the sumptuously decorated dining room. It's high ceilings and grand windows set the scene for a Afternoon Tea fit for royalty!

There was endless Tea served in exquisite crockery and delicious finger sandwiches with a variety of fillings such as egg and chive, ham and tomato, salmon and cucumber. Following sandwiches we were served a delicate homemade lemon posset, in the cutest little wine glass I'd ever seen. The posset was divine and a lovely little extra. Then came the cakes, a selection of homemade lemon drizzle, chocolate and raspberry, lemon cheesecake and of course a traditional scone with cream and jam. All for just £15 pp (or £19 with a glass of prosecco).

Adrian and Christine were so welcoming and the service was excellent throughout.

We will be returning very soon!

We had visited Y Fan prior to a wedding the next day. Although we had only booked for 1 night both my wife and I wished we had been able to stay longer. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcomed by the owners Adrian and Christine. The grade 2 listed building, which was set in a beautiful location in the countryside just outside Caerphilly, was stunning and had been renovated to a very high standard. Our room was big, tastefully decorated in keeping with the building, and with the most comfortable bed. The breakfast offering was varied ranging from a full Welsh breakfast to a choice of vegetarian or pescatarian. Excellent location, hosts and value for money. Thank you Adrian and Christine for making our short stay very enjoyable.

Stayed 2 nights for my daughters wedding, rooms were beautiful, bed was so comfy, lovely breakfast, and they were very accommodating with an extra bed in one of the rooms, BUT should be advertised as adult only. Was on tenterhooks with a lively 3 year old and felt watched all the time. My daughter's make up artist lent something against the wall and he told the chauffer that he was going to tell her off which he then proceeded to do. I understand that they have spent a lot of money but they shouldn't make their guests and their guests feel uncomfortable. They knew from the beginning that it was a wedding so there would be people coming and going

Well have worked/lived/stayed in the Caerphilly area since 1990 and until this weekend had no idea this place existed. Shocked all round, the place is wonderful (the surrounds and location) The manor house is very sympathetically restored, although grand, it feels understated and in keeping - hope that's what the hosts here hoping for?. Only a handful of rooms, ours was fab, everything you need and very quiet, not the usually noise you get in Caerphilly hotels!!. Slept well, ate well, left happy......thanks to the hosts, very attentive, friendly and welcoming. We shall return.

What a stunning place hidden in the country side of Caerphilly Wales. The abbey is 500 years old tastefully decorated with the most inviting and comfortable details. The owners Chris and Adrian are keen historians about the property and are very happy to look after anything you could need or want.
We stayed there with our teenage daughters and stayed at the top floor where we were self contained. The beds were plush and the room quiet and dark at night for a wonderful sleep. The breakfast was amazing: all the best locally sourced foods and accompaniments like homemade jam and marmalade and straight from the butcher sausages.
We plan to make a return to enjoy the gorgeous walks that are available right on its door step.
