Very pleasantly surprised how nice and welcoming the landlady and staff were . Upon arrival we were told an extra heater had been put in our room in case we needed it as the weather had turned bitterly cold , we didn't need it but very much appreciated the gesture. Our room was very clean and cosy . Plenty of...

Booked this guest house, admittedly day before visit, but could understand when we got there why they had a vacancy as it was half term week! Rang the landlady to say that we would be arriving later, which was fine. However, parked the car in their car park, a bonus to have free parking so near the centre of Brecon....

Stayed here recently at the last minute - good enough but so much more to offer. Friendly enough but I wouldn't recommend it for more than a one night stay. The rooms are very basic but the breakfast was lovely.

It's an ok place for the price, room was a bit tired but was clean. Comfortable bed and good shower if a bit small. Breakfast was ok, good coffee. Plenty of parking but could be lit better for pedestrians coming in after dark. Staff not very helpful

There is a very fine balance between running a successful guest house and giving outstanding service. This guest house has querky rooms; some might say old fashioned or shabby but it was once the boarding house for the school opposite so what would you expect - luxury? We did not expect luxury and the location is ideal for walkers, hikers,...

All in all an OK experience and its well situated for walking to the city for shopping and finding some place to eat. The room was not too small and bathroom had what we needed. Breakfast was good and enough

Friendly reception on arrival. Good location on road into Brecon and short walk over bridge into town centre Pleasant room and comfy bed, tea making facilities in room. Very handy bike storage in barn- ideal for cyclists

Stayed in the family room after a long day's exploring the region - which is stunning. The room was basic, at best. The shower was abysmal, resembling a trickle from a drain pipe rather than decent pressure. There was unfortunately no happy medium with the temperature, either stone cold or blistering hot. This made for a particularly uncomfortable bathing experience....

One night stay whilst visiting family My room was lovely and spotlessly clean - noticeably so in comparison with considerably more expensive hotels I've visited! No view unfortunately Limited veggie breakfast on the menu but Carol whipped up the most delicious mushrooms on toast I've had in a long time Silly small juice glasses though chaps 😉

Don't be put off by the approach from the car park; this is after all 17th century building. The rooms are small as they've been converted into en suite, but decorated with character and very clean. Adequate breakfast and friendly staff make this a good choice for exploring the hills and easy access to the town. If I could suggest...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Beacons was once a riverside farm and the 17th Century barns and cottages still remain. The front part of the building was added in the early 1700's and the house has changed little - apart from modern comforts and decor. The original spiral staircase, moulded ceilings and even the meat cellar (now a cosy bar) all add to the character and atmosphere of this lovely home. ... more   less
