The hotel seemed very shabby, 'authentic' for the time it was built maybe. Creaky floorboards and water stained carpets. However, I think they may be doing renovations soon. It was a great location, within walking distance of everything in the village. No breakfast included and the lack of local beers on tap/cask would probably prevent me from going back.

Did not stay, so can't speak about the rooms. We went for something to eat as it was dog friendly, It was my granddaughter's birthday while we were away and they really made us welcome. A big thank you to the bar staff who had Staffies, she remembered Libby's birthday and gave Blaze some lovely treats. Nice steak, and reasonably...

Our room was very nice, all we needed for our weeks stay. As it was our 30th wedding anniversary we were left complementary wine in our room, a lovely gesture. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. We have been coming to Betws y Coed for many years but this is the first time we have stayed at the...

Had a lovely stay here with our friends from Australia. We had one of the newly refurbished rooms, and couldn't have been happier. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good selection for breakfast, and Dinner was very nice too.

Great location for what we needed it for. The downstairs of the hotel was lovely unfortunately our rooms were a little dated and tired, they could do with some tlc however they were clean and ok for our short stay. The staff were great, friendly and polite and very helpful. The food was outstanding, we all had fantastic evening meals...

We stayed at the Gwydyr Hotel for two nights so we could climb a mountain (we did, and my legs are still complaining!) It's on the main road into Betws-y-Coed and has plenty of free parking at the back of the hotel. It is in the process of being refurbished and whilst the room we were in has not yet...

We had a 4 night break here during August as a family. The hotel staff are very welcoming on arrival, you checkin at the bar and it was a very quick, simple process and they help you and take you up to your room, which is a nice touch. We had a room on the 2nd floor, nice big family...

this is a ok place for a few days visit in Betsy-y-Coed. Lays in the center and the price is ok. We stayed for 2 days and we eat at the hotel both days. The food is good, no more no less at a fair price. The room was good and clean. The staff was really good and very friendly....

It's not very often I would rate a hotel so low, but taking into account value for money and fairness/transparency of rates this hotel was a big disappointment. In all honesty, the reason for this is quite simply the room we stayed in- it was fusty, damp, had a smelly bathroom, old and squeaky mattress, and was altogether very tired....

This hotel after many years of neglect is now in new hands and it's being refurbished. It is very much a work in progress and our room having been refurbished was very plesent with a great shower. However being at the front it is noisy early morning with the A5 traffic and it would be nice to see double glazing...

Thank you for your lovely review, we are aware that the windows need replacing, however being in a conservation area, these will need to be hand made in oak to match the existing and as there are so many of them they are not planned to be part of the refurbishment scheme until 2017/18.
