As the title says, the food is excellent and the kitchen staff should be complimented. On arrival, in the car park, you can see a stack of old mattresses, an abandoned van and general rubbish scattered around. The greeting at reception was 'robust' rather than professional, checking out was rather embarrassing for one of the staff, as she was called...

Good afternoon, Peter B! Thank You for your review! I'm very sorry for your misunderstanding, as what You've heard, was a Manager having a joke with a member of staff and two regular guests, that stayed with us every year. We keep very friendly relations with our staff and to be rude - is not the way we deal. It...

Once again we visited the Bryn Howel for Boxing Day lunch with the family. The price of lunch is very competitive and with some attention to detail it would be excellent. Those who had turkey were very happy I unfortunately had beef which was quite fatty and the beef and the gravy were lukewarm. My biggest complaint was the service...

Fantastic hotel in amazing scenery. Next to great canalside walks, we walked from hotel to Pontcysylite Aqueduct about a 3 mile walk well worth a visit. The hotel served delicious food with good service all at a reasonable price.

Only there for event: did not stay. Some food provided: ok. As last year bar has no snacks/crisps etc: strange! Toilets poor, rather cramped and wet from apparent leak. Another one larger but very unwelcoming.

Stayed the night as an 'accidental tourist' - we live locally and had to find accommodation when our heating packed up on the coldest night of the year. We paid an embarrassingly small amount for a good twin room with a wonderful breakfast by a picture window overlooking the Vale of Llangollen. Sat in the warm oak panelled cosy bar...

We used this hotel because it was dog friendly and reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room (21) was adequate but tend to agree with other people it could do with a little update. The view was lovely overlooking the canal and countryside beyond. We only had breakfast here which was buffet style. There was a...

Taken for Sunday lunch so it was difficult to complain. The only outstanding feature is the surrounding countryside. Even the approach prove difficult, has obviously seen much better days. Certainly not worth the 40 miles we travelled.

Stayed at this hotel for a nice Autumn break as it was listed cheap online, I am not surprised this hotel cost us so little. The state of the hotel is disgraceful, nothing matches and it looks like it hasn't been decorated since the 70s. There was a foul smell running through the main entrance which the lady at reception...

Pleasant place and staff with lovely views and tree lined approach . Changed rooms upon arrival with no difficulty. We were visiting family so didn't eat but breakfast was perfectly reasonable and nice for the price
