I visited The Lygon Arms in Broadway for a 2-night stay with family. We were immediately struck by the lovely staff. All very friendly, and all very professional. We were directed to the free car park, and then went to our small but fairly nice room. It was mostly fine, but there were small areas for improvement. For example, the...

We have just returned from a two night stay at The Lygon Arms and were really impressed with this lovely old hotel – lots of creaking floorboards, dark wood and old world charm. We stayed in “The Broadway Suite” on the ground floor in the old part of the hotel, and were pleasantly surprised that it was more of a...

We celebrated our 44th wedding anniversary here last weekend, just perfect. What a lovely old property, so many interesting nooks and crannies. Ignore previous comments saying it needs to be modernised. Please don't, keep it just as it is. We don't want all the furniture the same everywhere, no character then. The evening meals are superb, loved choice. Breakfast was...

This is one of the premier old coaching inns of England. Its ambience, character and tariffs all point to this, and it is certainly an atmospheric and comfortable place to stay. However, we did not feel that the hotel quite justified its reputation or quite its price. Breakfast was ample, but we have enjoyed wider, and better quality, choices in...

I would love to leave an excellent rating and really considered doing so because of the fantastic customer service and amazing food. When we arrived I was disappointed with the superior double - so I went to reception and told them this (I do not think it is fair to leave a poor review without giving a hotel the chance...

Stayed here with my sister and even though there was extensive building work going on, we had a marvellous time. Our rooms were big, quirky and immaculate. The staff were first class and trained to a very high standard - they were delightful in every dealing we had with them. The food and service were superb and we will be...

While our standard room was tired looking and in need of a sprucing, the dinner we had was exceptionally good. A better dining experience than lodging experience but the staff were wonderful in both the hotel and restaurant.

We were a party of 8 wanting to sit on the terrace for a late afternoon drink after a walk. But left because of lack of service. I also noticed tables had not been cleared of previous customers empty glasses. Very disappointing. Will not be returning.

We stayed here for 6 nights in July. Wonderful room looking onto the main road, but still quiet. Comfortable bed. Good cupboard space. Bathroom slightly smaller than expected but had lovely toiletries supplied. Cooked breakfasts were wonderful. Afternoon tea generously portioned. Ate twice in the brasserie which was very good, and once in the bar which was also good. Swimming...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Imagine a hotel where roaring log-burning open fireplaces hint at its roots dating from the 1300's. Picture a Great Hall Restaurant with a vaulted ceiling and original wood panelling built in the seventeenth century. Visit a hotel that has been coloured by the characters of history. At The Lygon Arms, with its 78 rooms you can stay in the suite that King Charles I once stayed in the night before the Battles of Worcester in 1651. See the carvings of John Travis' name on the arch of the front door, etched into the hotel's history in 1620. An historic hotel in the heart of Broadway with a typically Cotswolds history. Dine in The Great Hall, Barringtons our typical all day dining brasserie or have lunch, a coffee or a Cotswold Gin and Tonic in one of our many lounges. A spa , swimming pool and The Lygon Gardens await you but most importantly the team look forward to welcoming you. . ... more   less
