Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked a stay for one night at the weekend, on arrival the staff were very friendly and professional. We got into our room and it was incredibly hot. The air con was locked off and the radiator was stuck on high. We called down to reception and asked for someone to come by and fix before we returned for sleep later. We had a restaurant booking so we had to leave before anyone came up, but was sure someone would come by. We returned later that night and it was boiling, we opened the balcony door but the heat coming out of the radiator which was next to the bed was quite overwhelming. We called again and someone came up, they couldn’t do anything as apparently it was heating the whole building and not just our room. They offered to move us to another part of the building which had working air con but it was around half midnight and we didn’t want to repack and move. They brought us a desk fan. In the end I didn’t sleep great as I was so hot it felt like the middle of July. The room and bed were super comfortable with great curtains but unfortunately the heating issue was too much.

Hi Fiona, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We apologise for the discomfort you encountered due to the heating issue during your stay - it's a shame you declined the access of another room - as this could have been done without moving all items and ensured the rest of your night was comfortable. Your feedback is invaluable, and we will address this matter to ensure a more comfortable experience for our guests in the future. We appreciate your understanding and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for a much improved stay. Kind regards, Lee (Reception Manager)

We received a warm welcome on arrival for an overnight stay in a Superior Room. Lovely touches in room of a heart made from red confetti on the bed and a congratulations card and dessert. Made this stay feel that bit more special and personal! Clean, comfortable and added bonus of a mini fridge for too! Lovely buffet breakfast the following morning before our trip across to Windsor Castle. Overall a lovely stay and would highly recommend.

Super welcoming. All the staff made us and our children feel very special right from the start. Our suite was huge, plenty of space for the 4 of us. We had the John Chater room. Very comfortable and enormous bed! Even the charm of the wonky floors and doorways of the old building added to the experience of being in historic Windsor. A surprise addition of chocs and Prosecco in the room for our anniversary was lovely too. I had a lovely hot bath with the delicious smelling 100acre toiletries before we headed down for Dinner at the Leaf restaurant. We would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

I had booked our stay as a birthday surprise for my husband and we both really enjoyed it. As soon as you walk through the front door there is a very calm atmosphere. The receptionist at check in was very welcoming and friendly. Our bed and bedding was very comfortable, we were also pleased to see 2 chairs in our room ( at several visits to various hotels there has only been 1 chair in the room so one of us ends up seated on the bed ). The public areas have quite a tropical feel as they are fitted out with so many plants. There was an excellent choice of items the following morning at breakfast and this definitely set us up for the rest of the day. Breakfast, like the rest of our stay was a very calm affair. A big thank you to Andy for taking some excellent photos of us, a lovely reminder of a very enjoyable stay.

Today I’m in Windsor ahead of my flight home to the States tomorrow. I’m staying at the Castle hotel, so of course had to take afternoon tea here. Let’s talk first about the tea. The tea was from Darvilles of Windsor. A brand I’ve had many times before. My Husband’s English breakfast looked great, but my Earl grey was so pale. It needed another teaspoon of loose leaf tea adding to the pot. I’m a traditionalist, so would rather have a nice cake stand rather than something so gimmicky, but I can understand why they have done this being close to the palace. The sandwiches were plentiful, but they had been pre-made what seemed like a long time in advance. They were extremely cold, and the fillings had all gone sticky and gooey (for want of better words). The exact same thing with the petit fours. Neither the sandwiches nor the Petite fours were enjoyed. The scones I have to say were delicious, no knife was needed they really did pull apart in your hands. The jam was very runny and just ran off the scones and on to the plates, making the scones very messy to eat. I had to ask for teaspoons (none with the cups of tea), clean plates and also spoons for the jam and cream. Serve staff took our drinks order, brought the food stand and then had no contact with us during our afternoon. No one came to check whether everything was alright or if we needed any tea refills. The tea ware was from Maxwell Williams, my teapot spout was in need of a thorough clean. In my opinion this was a very poor experience all over and certainly not an afternoon tea I would recommend to others. We both left very disappointed. There is lots of room for improvement here

Excellent rooms, staff & meals, we would definitely recommend to others. Central location for the whole Windsor/Eton/Thames experience. Leanne Silavant was particularly helpful - thank you. As lovely as the shower was, with safety in mind I would suggest a grab handle &/or non-slip mat as the shower tray was "very" slippery mindful of all the tiles & glass around. Brilliant break, will be back!
