Stayed here when working in the area to save a trip home. Excellent warm welcome, friendly service and just the job for a overnight stop. Value for money at the price, and although my room was basic (no en suite shower or tv) it was spotlessly clean and ideal for my needs, with the added bonus of a wifi connection....

An amazing place to stay. Wonderful building. We had a room on 4th floor which gave stunning views of cathedral.Breakfast excellent.Location means you are right in centre of Salisbury to start your day. We were allowed to leave our car so free parking a bonus. nb this is not guaranteed but we were there on a Friday before Bank Holiday...

Superb place just across the road from Salisbury Cathedral. Free parking in the middle of town was definitely a bonus. Very friendly welcome and service throughout. Yes, the interiors of the rooms are a little undated in places, but everything was clean. Breakfast was good with plenty of options. Very good value stay!

The location could not be better. Right within the close, in front of the cathedral. I stayed in a single room with shared bathroom which was perfectly adequate. The room, bathroom and toilets were very clean and well equiped. Breakfast was a bit basic in what is a communal room but to be honest, it was no issue. The staff...

Stayed there for quite a while, some of the cheaper rooms might feel a bit dated but everything was sparkling clean and any reservations i might have had were more than made up for by the helpful and friendly staff.

I already knew this place was a hall of residence so was prepared for some austerity. So I was pleasantly surprised to find that the room was large and comfortable with a separate sitting area and writing table. There was no TV so please bring a book. The bathroom was a little dated but everything was clean and tidy. Free...

Walked through the door, looked nice. Got worse by the second. No towels, shared (tiny and stinking) bathrooms, uncomfortable bed, no tv. The list goes on. Would not recommend to anyone. Difficult to properly find. Not really a hotel, more like a hostel. Might sleep in my car tonight instead....

We are sorry you are unhappy with your decision to book one of our budget rooms. We try to make it as clear as possible that these rooms are for those who are attracted to the privilege of staying in the Cathedral Close and more concerned about price than the quality of the room. The following is the online description...

Fantastic looking place for the outside, but the further from the front door the worst it gets, think student digs from about 1970, no TV in the rooms, 70's carpets, very lumpy mattress, old collage desk in the room and the bathroom down the hall. Breakfast is served in the canteen with self service and self service table clearance. If...

We stayed here on the recommendation of family. It is an ecumenical Christian institution which offers B&B. It is located on Bishop's walk in the Close of Salisbury Cathedral ideally right in the centre of the city. The oldest part dates back to 1677 & is said to have been designed by Sir Christopher Wren (St Paul's Cathedral). The charming...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Stay in historic buildings within the beautiful Salisbury Cathedral Close. Sarum has 40 en-suite rooms, some with stunning views of the Salisbury Cathedral and the rooftops of the Close. Rooms not used by students and conference guests are let for bed and breakfast. There are also a small number of very modest rooms with shared facilities for those on a tight budget. Sarum's central location is a five-minute walk from High Street shops, cafes and the charter market. Excellent cultural venues within the Close include Salisbury Museum and Mompesson House, while Salisbury Playhouse, Salisbury Arts Centre and dozens of restaurants and pubs lie just beyond its medieval walls. Return to the Close with your own gate key, knowing you are among the privileged few to stay in what Bill Bryson described as England's 'most beautiful space'. The train station is about a 15-minute walk away (5 minutes by taxi). Direct trains to London are about an hour and 20 minutes. ... more   less
