We got a great package deal on Secret Escapes, the hotel is clean and the staff extremely friendly. For the price including a 3 course meal , wine and breakfast we can't complain at all. The food was outstanding and although the room was quite basic and small it was well equipped and clean which is all we wanted. Unfortunately...

I was a bit disappointed to read the negative reviews on here as I really enjoyed my stay at the Royal Angus. The staff were great, our room clean and spacious, the bed comfortable, the bathroom great. Those for me are the core things a hotel has to get right and the Royal Angus delivered. We didn't eat our evening...

Thankfully only stayed one night, as people say, location is very poor. Nothing around, so if you are staying in for a few drinks, expect London prices! Room fine, good size, storage heater(?) dared but fine. Breakfast vast but Luke warm and not great quality. Tea by the cup is a pain! Finally, never complain about staff, but nearly 100%...

Thankfully it was a very short stay. Ugly block next to dual carriageway. Difficult to locate by car or on foot. Bar prices for the area are very high Eg. Bog standard red wine small glass £7 ! Only stay there if you must or someone else is paying!

Dear Terry H, I'm sorry we didn't meet your expectations during your stay & I realise we aren't the prettiest of hotels from the outside but the pricing is in line with most other properties & we do have some great offers on bin end wines. Kind Regards Simon Doyle

Just sat in the restaurant waiting for my second coming from the kitchen. Sent my first meal back as it was undercooked. "I'd like fish and chips in soft chewy cold batter please" said no one ever! Staff are very slow to respond to your requests and to top everything off its freezing in here. Room is OK. Nothing special....

Dear Robert, Thanks for your feedback and I apologise for the experience you had in the restaurant which is clearly not good enough. There was a problem with the heating in the restaurant which was in the process of being fixed but due to the size of the restaurant it does get cold if the system is not working correctly....

I stayed here on business in January and have to say that the staff were friendly and obliging but that the hotel on the whole is rather dated. Lots of noise from the plumbing etc and no central heating in my room (nasty plug in heater which did nothing on the 5th floor in the cold weather). Food from restaurant...

We stayed on a Groupon deal which included tickets for Cadburys World. My partner upgraded to a deluxe room which was lovely with a big bed and a nice touch with towels made into the shape of swans with silk rose petals & sweets with it being Valentines Day. Our room was spotlessly clean as was the bathroom. All the...

Ok, the Royal Angus isn't the Ritz, I knew that before I stayed but I did expect much better for the price we paid. The reception staff were excellent and very welcoming on arrival, the reception and waiting area quite nice, the hallways quite smart also so all was going well until we got to our room. A very small...

My husband and I are regular visitors to Birmingham and thought we would spend a Saturday night here for Valentine's weekend. The location of the hotel is a 10 minute very brisk walk from New Street train station, which was fine. The reception staff were friendly and polite. The room, however, was incredibly small with a bed not even the...
