The hotel in general was lovely, as was our room. Reception staff were very polite and efficient. AVOID the Pub Du Vin downstairs, very poor, very slow service and very average food for the money. Stick to the Bubbles Bar upstairs, which we found to be superior in service and a more friendly attitude than the 'Pub'.

For me, this centrally placed hotel and bistro has lost its lustre. When the company took over the derelict old Birmingham Eye Hospital it was an iconic place to visit, not only to wonder the superb conversion but the lively approach to food and wine that at that this time the city lacked. Where is that magic now? It is...

Booking in was easy and the staff friendly and efficient even though they were on secondment from HdV, Cheltenham. The room was well presented with a Nespresso machine as well as the usual kettle for teas. As the rooms were carved out of the wards of the eye hospital for which the Edwardian building started its life, the proportions may...

Absolutely fantastic lunch of Chateaubriand, Fries and Wine, great service, wonderful atmosphere, could have stayed all day, it of wasn't for our theatre trip. The Bistro has such a warm and friendly atmosphere, felt very welcome and would definitely go again.

My partner suggested we try Hotel Du Vin Birmingham for Sunday lunch. There was nothing I could fault... it was perfect. Price: Excellent value, it is £24.95 for 4 courses. The courses are Soup, Anti Pasti selection with fresh smoked salmon and crab, a choice from the mains (I had the Sunday roast) and a selection of desserts to choose...

We stayed for one night on 23rd December, lovely atmosphere. Great but smallish room, great bathroom. Fabulous breakfast. Highly recommend this hotel for a Birmingham city stay. Cathedral just around the corner, shops and library just an easy short walk.

This hotel is ideally situated if visiting the Birmingham Christmas market. We drove to it and it was well sign posted. We knew it didn't have a car park and that they parked your car for you but what we didn't know was that at the end of our stay they charged us £20 ! I couldn't find anywhere on...

Birthday stay on the DB&B and overnight stay deal and had an absolutely lovely studio room on the top floor. Spacious, characterful and amazing rain shower in bathroom. Huge (maybe 8') bed and slept really well. Gentleman on reception couldn't have been more helpful and would definitely recommend the valet parking option at £20 per day. Delicious and skilfully prepared...

Just back from an amazing stay at Hotel du Vin. Our room, Villa Maria, was fabulous - from the roll top bath and monsoon shower, the massive comfy bed and all the little extras like a coffee machine and variety of teas it all had a luxurious feel without the price tag and pretentious feel! The staff were all helpful,...

Let down by the food. Hotel lovely, staff very polite and helpful. The afternoon tea menu offered a good selection and the candy floss a unique touch. However we found the bread and cakes dry and not very fresh. The 'warm' scones were cold. Shame as everything else was good. At £20 a head though should be better. I think...
