Came here last year for a night out. Could be closer to the centre but wasn't too much of an issue as we just got taxis. Our room was very small and basic but very clean and was fine for us just staying one night, I couldn't stay longer. The room had no windows which could feel a bit stuffy...

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. I'm pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and liked the concept of BLOC Hotels. Should you stay next time, maybe you should try booking a Vista room. These are rooms with windows. You may also be interested to know that shortly Apartment BLOC will be opening. These will be...

This place is just brilliant. It might be no frills but they offer a good quality of bedroom within a contemporary setting. It's about time that the budget hotel world became a bit more up to date. I would stay here every time. However not sure I could do more than a few nights in a windowless room.

Comfy enough, warm enough, but it's the shocking cost of a bed that upsets me. A comfy bed with a small amount of noise from passers by and the trains, but not enough to disturb an average sleeper. Not superb and not bad, but for 85 pounds for a night for 2 people it's frighteningly small and pokey for your...

I'm pleased to hear that you found the hotel comfy. BLOC hotel tries to remain competitive with their rates within the city and flexes its rates in line with occupancy levels. I'm sorry to hear that you found the rate too pricey for the accommodation offered. I'm sure if you were to have searched for other hotels on the date...

I wanted to love this hotel. When I first arrived I did. Really quick and easy check-out, the room was modern and clean. Perfect for a one night stay. Perfect for couples and the bed was super comfy and absolutely massive! But all of this is let down by the fact the walls are made of paper. We could hear...

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. I'm sorry to hear that the hotel did not meet your expectations as you first thought, due to other hotel guests disturbing your stay. Your comments have been passed on to the General Manager at Birmingham to investigate and watch the CCTV. Hopefully you made Reception aware of the noise...

For the price and convenience there really is very little to complain about. We paid around £60 for a Saturday night's stay in a comfortable double room. The room and en suite were immaculately clean. There was enough space for two people to get ready for an evening out, but don't expect an enormous expansive room - thats not this...

Clean, simple, well designed. Particularly likes the shower/wet room. Great for the solitary traveller looking for a one night stop over. I like the neighbourhood - nice and quiet but would worry about noise from other residents on a busier night. The vending options could be greatly improved.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. It's always nice to hear what people would like to see on sale in the vending machine so we can improve the offering. Hopefully you mentioned it to reception on check out. If not, I would welcome your feedback.

Stayed here whilst on business. Parked at the rear of the hotel at £10/24hrs. The hotel is ultra clean and comfortable with pleasant staff. Unfortunately no restaurant or bar. I would recommend this hotel based on location, value and service.

Thank you for your review and kind comments of BLOC Hotel Birmingham. Hopefully you saw the 'Around The BLOC' guide on the desk in the bedroom. This will show you all of the restaurants, bars, coffee shops and Barbers/Hairdressers within walking distance to the hotel, where on production of your keycard, allows hotel guests discount. For what you pay it is great quality, the furnishings are great and it provides an interesting concept. The lighting however is quite dark so may not be the best place to do your makeup before a night out!

Stayed here for 2 nights recently and was very impressed with this style of hotel. Small but perfectly formed, clean and warm.Good location for city centre attractions makes the bloc a good value for money base. One slight gripe was the WiFi didn't work on my first night but was rectified the following morning. Will definitely return!

This is not a hotel for the elderly. The rooms are windowless cubes and there are no tea- making facilities in the room, although there is a machine in the lobby. It was good value for a one night stay on Valentines Day as all other hotels were expensive for that night.

If the standard room type wasn't for you, you maybe interested to know that shortly you will be able to book 1 bedroomed apartments at BLOC. These will also be competitively priced and good value for money in the city. Thank you for taking the time to write your review.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Bloc hotel is located in Birminghams Jewellery Quarter. The village atmosphere created by its cafes-bars and restaurants is complemented by the business-shopping-arts and sports facilities that are also on its doorstep. We have taken loose inspiration from Japanese pod style hotels which means much larger rooms more akin to a cabin on a luxury yacht with finishes and fittings to match. The rooms are equipped with a King Size Double Bed-luxurious linen-climate control-wet room with monsoon drench shower-Samsung 32inch led flat screen TV and high speed WIFI. Birmingham is of course a centrally located travel hub and for many of our visitors that will be the most important factor in just how quickly and conveniently they can access the motorway network-national rail and international flights. ... more   less
